Rumour - Theo Walcott

by Stranded » 28 Jun 2023 10:14

According to a journalist from The Guardian - we are in advanced talks with him to join.

Fairly obvious deal given he nearly signed last year and was involved in every game under Selles.

Could be a good deal at L1 level as didn't look out of place in the Prem so dropping two leagues is decent for us.

Hopefully signing a 34 yo is the exception rather than the rule but in isolation, should be OK.

Yep all for it.

If we are (as it looks like we will) have a very young squad a good role model like Walcott is very important.

If he can stay relatively injury free, should be a good signing.

Still got a bit about him and would surely be good enough to be very good in L1.

Will be good for the youngsters as well.

Would be a real coup at this level, has connections to the local area, and has a good relationship with Selles. Would be good around the kids too. Hope we get it over the line.

I can't see any downsides for us with this move. We need wide attacking players and someone with his skill and experience is currently lacking in our squad.

Account that posted it is a known fake apparently - so as you were.

Doesn't mean it won't happen of course.

Her account has been right a lot too. She gets a lot of grief like ReluctantNicko used to when he started out.

Wouldn't be one I'd expect to play more than 20-30 games but one we can use as a role model to our youngsters. If the price is right I'd say we should go for it.

Courtney Friday stating there are 2 other players there, who are not currently signed to Reading.

Be interesting* to see if anyone gets announced ahead of the squad flying to Spain on Saturday.

this would be a great signing, he looked like he still has it in the last 10/15 games last season in the prem, he will tear up League one

Right now, any signing would be a good signing as it would be an indicator that the club has a viable future

100% not the type of signing we should be making.

CountryRoyal 100% not the type of signing we should be making.

Generally agreed, but if it's him + some youngish something to prove types I'll be happy. Feel like we've said this a lot in recent years, but if he can stay fit he'll be far too good for this league.
