"THIS IS A NEW SEASON AND WE HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING RIGHT FROM DAY ONE!"
It's time to start afresh and Royals skipper Andy Yiadom has his sight firmly set on putting right the wrongs of last season through hard work and determination.
"These seven days have been good," he began in summarising the training camp in Spain. "The boys have been working really hard in the heat.
"I haven’t been training out on the pitch as I work my way back from an injury which is never ideal in pre-season. But it’s been good to see them training so hard and being put through their paces.
"And then they had the game at the end of the week. Unfortunately I didn’t get to be involved against Wimbledon, but I'm on the right road back. And I can see that all the boys have been working really hard all week so they are ready for the start of the new season.
"And that includes the young boys that came out to Spain with us - it has been great to see what they can do alongside some of the senior lads."
The pre-season friendly schedule ramps up now with a trip to Sutton scheduled for this weekend and as the home game against Peterborough on the opening day on the horizon, Yiadom's focus is clear.
"It's an obvious thing to say but, as captain, you want your team to achieve greatness - not to get relegated," he continued. "For me personally, mentally it was quite tough.
"But as a team, we can’t dwell on it. This is a new season. And our only focus has to be on doing everything right form day one, so that we can challenge for a bounce back to the Championship as quickly as possible.
"The next step for me is to get out on the pitch and training with the team as soon as I can.
"League One is tough, we are under no illusions. But with absolutely no disrespect to this division, this isn’t where we want this club to be. So we have to aim for promotion."
