CountryRoyal Why aren’t QPR playing until the 16th?

Something about their pitch being relaid (not sure what specifically the issue is); both their first two league games are away because of it.

Reading vs Ipswich, great, thought we'd dodged them this season with our relegation and their promotion.

At least it’s not Huddersfield.

I have no recollection of Tranmere getting to the League Cup final.

Yeh, still doesn't ring any bells! Thought I misheard when they said 2000.

Interesting.

What do you make of the pubs in Chepstow?

Is the Five Alls still trading?

Have to say it’s my favourite pub in Chepstow and not just for the sign and name.

I think I’ve only been in the Boat and the Riverside. And neither for a few years. I don’t drink anymore.

Drinking is about all you can do in Newport, proper dump. Had to go there to get a new passport once.

The transporter bridge, the medieval ship, the cathedral, Celtic Manor (if you like that kind of thing)? The local museum (free) is full of Roman material from Caerleon and Caerwent. And the wetland centre on the shoreline is a great place for a sunny Sunday afternoon.

And there’s a Tesco with a soft-play in Spitty.

(I’m obliged to write this, my Newport-born Mrs is checking what I say.)

Was there in my previous life as a Leicester fan. Gave them up for Royals 20 years ago…..

Home draw that we stand of a chance of winning.

From a finances point of view, Spurs or Chelsea would have been better but outside of that surely you just want a tie you stand a chance in.

It’s not great but it’s not awful.

Can play that same team as we did against Millwall, don’t have to travel and have a reasonable chance of progress

A great chance to give Aluko a warm welcome ‘home’ as well

It’s a bit dull though

From the teams in the draw the options were:

- a team we played last year in the Championship - boring
- a team we play this year in League One - boring
- a Premier League team - would probably beat us
- a League Two team
- Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town or Sheffield Wednesday

So not a bad draw all things considered...

Reading have won just 1 of their last 4 league cup ties. But at least it was the last one!

However all three defeats in that run have been at home to what you'd call dreary, unattractive and/or cr@p opposition.

Will probably make the effort to come up for this one.
Ipswich received rave reviews last season over their style of play so should be worth watching.
