FA Cup Final (Poll)

Who would you prefer to win?

Once you've gone through all the "Which strain of AIDS would I rather have" type jokes please take some time to answer the poll.

Much as I don’t like the idea of one team dominating too much (see Liverpool in the 80’s, United in the 90’s & 00’s), I can’t bring myself to want United to win anything

So, obviously, Ian Royal

City.

Would vote but the poll is covered by a Skyscanner advert.

I hope it's nice and sunny (as cup final day should always be) so i can have a few beers in the garden of the Fox while keeping maybe a quarter of an eye on the game

Of the two clubs I prolly prefer United, especially the current comedy version.

But apparently who wins has an effect on who gets into Europe/ which consolation Thursday competition Chelsea, Newcastle (?) etc qualify for, so I would need to see that first.

After the Champion League places the qualification places available for the also rans of Europe are as follows

There are 2 Europa League places available for English teams, 1 place goes to Spurs, as the highest league position that doesn't qualify for the CL, and the 2nd place will go to the FA Cup winners. So if United win the cup they'll get that opportunity. In the unlikely  event that City win the cup then Chelsea will take the second Europa spot.

If City win then Newcastle (finished 7th) get to play in the the Conference Cup thing, so the Geordies will be hoping for a City result.

If United win then they'll get a Europa League place and Chelsea will be dumped into the Associate Members Cup of European football (wasn't all this easier to follow when it was the European Cup, UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup?).

Really couldn't care less overall but if had to opt then think I'd prefer a United win as it'd reduce Cheatsea's financial opportunity even more.

Will 94 year old Stuart Hall get released under Sunak's early release scheme so that he can present FA Cup final It's A Knockout?

Hoping for both teams to come down with an unpleasant but ultimately harmless stomach bug for a week and the whole thing to be called off this year.

I think it'll be quite amusing to watch Man U trying to off load the deadwood from their squad, attract a top class manager and sign better players if they're not in an European competition next season.

Liverpool and Arsenal both managed it but agree it'll be difficult. Who is going to pay the stupid wages we have put the deadwood on?

Sancho is on £300G a week. It looks likely we'll have to take a haircut on the fee and contribute to his wages (assuming he goes)

I think ETH stays. They'd have to pay his contract off (£10M) and possibly pay a buyout for the next manager. Also, Clubs that are performing better (Barca, Bayern etc) are trying to recruit new managers. Finally, the manager market at the mo is poor. The fact that Southgate could be considered an option...<SMH>.
