I guess he and his lawyers will be angling for what used to be called a compromise agreement. The club give him some money to save the hassle of a tribunal he might win. He accepts less than he would win, but doesn't run the risk of losing a tribunal and getting nothing.
Invariably one of the clauses of such agreements is "don't say anything nasty about us and don't give any secrets away."
If I was being really cynical, I would say his agreement to appear was only ever as leverage in his negotiations.

Pretty much nail on head in all respects IMO.
Our dodgy owners may be so scared of what he might reveal that they will offer him a settlement agreement to buy his silence even if he had practically zero chance of winning any dismissal case (which, given the known circumstances, would be my assessment of the odds, unless those handling his dismissal had completely messed up the process).
