There's some stupid story in the media that Liverpool are monitoring Mason Greenwood ahead of making a possible bid

I imagine Liverpool fans will be dead against this given his history with Man Utd.

Chelsea doing their best to help Diarra's case.

Chelsea have told Josh Acheampong he won’t play for the first team or dev squad until he signs a new contract.

Current deal expires in 2026. Chelsea don’t want to sell, remain optimistic an extension can be agreed.

Rashford to leave United in January.

I'll remain convinced, probably until he retires, that there is a real player there. And England-regular level player. He needs to find the right coach to bring it out of him.

I like Rashford but he's so inconsistent. He had one world-class season in terms of goals scored (30) and a few 20+ seasons but he's also had a few single-digit seasons. Think he needs an ideal system to function in. He does well when playing on the counter and Luke Shaw is fit. Think Utd under Ole and the bits he did for England

Probably best that he goes for both parties

United apparently eyeing up an £80m bid for Gyokeres.

You couldn't make it up, really. They could have bought him for £18m at the start of last season but spent £64m on Hjoiland instead.

Granted, had he gone to United in 2023, there's no way he'd be worth £80m now.

And after Amorim has gone on record as saying he would not go back to Lisbon for players in January.

Called it :D

Pepe the Horseman
Sanguine There aren't, to my mind anyway, many stories these days of players developing late - but Viktor Gyokeres is one of them, at 26 years old. Less than 18 months ago he was playing for Coventry City in the Championship play-off final, now he has 59 goals in 65 games for Sporting Lisbon, and is being spoken of as an attacking target for both Arsenal and Liverpool. Phenomenal stuff.

Destined to be Utd's next big flop.

I was sure I wrote it on here but now searching for it I can't find it, so maybe not. But around a month ago I was listening to a podcast of european football journalists and when discussing possible transfers they said 'everyone knows Gyokeres can be bought for less than his release clause and Sporting are looking to accept an offer of around £x', and iirc the number was about £65Mish. and they all seemed to agree as if it was just fact.

made me :? a bit, but also wonder why no one had taken him yet

I do think people here maybe don't rate him as highly just because he was in the Champ for Coventry not long ago. Its hard to shake off that thought when people talk big money for him.

It is funny that there are teams like Chelsea and United being linked to him now when they could have picked him up for a third of the cost 18 months ago, especially when both clubs have a recent record of spaffing exceptional amounts on some non exceptional players.

Presumably those clubs don’t rate the Championship and have to wait for said player to prove himself in major ( ) European leagues. Still ManU could be finding out more closely why the Championship isn’t rated by them next season and Gyokeres would be the perfect fit!

Salah wasn't exactly pulling up trees until he moved to LFC at 25, or Kane at Spurs. It's hard to predict the future. Hojlund was brought in as a young prospect. I was surprised when they didn't get anyone else in as he was the only striker at the club

Summer 2025 will see the arrival of one, or both, of Gyokeres & Osimhem to the PL

I'd trust Liverpool's scouting over United's to be fair. They don't tend to get dragged in to paying over the odds.
