Greatwesternline
stealthpapes Mbengue feels like a big loss - a key part of the squad both on and off pitch. We tried to keep and he decided to take a different challenge.

Wareham never felt like he was quite good enough, bet he scores against us next season.

I think in L1 Wareham was good enough, with room to improve due to his age.

A lot better than Bodin, and Bodin is a 5/10 L1 player, so that must make Wareham a 6/10 for me at L1 which is ok.

Unless we have 3 forward signings lined up.

I like Wareham but he isn't a striker I would want us to be build a team around, a good option off the bench or against certain opposition and it seems that the deal he was offered reflected that the club saw him the same way. Apparently it was a 1 year deal but most likely was a 1 + 1 deal, so understand if he has gone for more security.

First friendly is at the weekend, so would hope we will see some movement this week - admittedly we are "only" playing Hungerford so would likely lean on youth a lot anyway but lets see.

Hound Still whilst we are waiting and constantly checking for news it does give me the chance to wonder whether CScott or Rupert Lowe are the worst thing on Twitter. It’s a pretty close run thing

I see its got to the stage where someone is so bored they have set up a "positive" CScott account and switch every tweet of his into positive language.

This is Lord CKS right? That's pretty funny.

Probably the most negative person I have ever come across anywhere.

Not really. It’s no different tomorrow as it was today. They’ve been free to discuss contracts with us and other clubs for weeks and weeks, they are just no longer officially under contract with us. It wasn’t a deadline to re-sign

It doesn’t look good though, the club kind of had there chance to improve the offer before contract expired. I would be surprised if more than one re-signs now.

Interesting to see if there’s a “rush” of signing announcements today/tomorrow now clubs are in their new accounting year

Just wondering how many of the contracts “offered” by the club were actually of an intent to get the player to re-sign. :?

I have a feeling in the next week or two some of the OOC players might well sign up when they don't get the offers they may have been expecting.

Yes, a win over Hungerford on Saturday and they’ll come flooding back.

Do we want them if they do? You want players committed to the project and they have demonstrated they are not.

Surely the club would want a definite decision by today ?
It’s less than 5 weeks until the first game and we pretty much have no strikers or wingers and 1 decent CB.
The squad needs sorting asap.

They probably wanted one two weeks ago but definitely feels they’ve not been over generous with some of these contract offers. Negotiations clearly ongoing with a few of them, which is fair enough

Could you at least try not to be completely miserable for a day at some point.

We wouldn't expect all new signings to be made at the start of preseason, so I don't see why we should look at out of contract players differently. In fact, arguably it's easier to leave those later because they already fit in. And many may be training with us to get fit anyway.

I've no issue with a playertaking their time to evaluate their options and see if they can get better elsewhere. It's asign we might actually be finally trying to spend wisely for once and not just panic paying to get people back.

Let’s take Ehibhatiomhan for example... if he waits to sign until 1 August, but has either been training with us or kept himself fit... it's not like he's going to need time to settle in and get familiar with the team before he can start a match.

Of course it could be agents are sticking their oar in and trying to either find a better deal or want more money, the latter being the preferred option. Could be the new people don't like being held to ransom by these third parties.

Happy with Rushesha to be a squad option, main issue with him last season was he essentially got thrust into a starting position, out of position due to injuries.
