Sam Smith's position under greater pressure at Wrexham as they look like splashing out £10m on yet another striker

Oh to have so many strikers on your books !

WHY?
Spat his dummy out and stopped playing for us. Hasn’t kicked a competitive ball in about 3 years cos of his disgusting attitude. Doesn’t deserve the luxury of a professional footballer and the lifestyle it provides.
I hope he fails miserably!

I mean he was allegedly an anti-vax nutjob but there are plenty of those in sport and in here.

Ultimately agreed to a mutual termination of his contract (when he could easily have milked us for every penny as many have) which saved us a few bob when we were desperate.

This. It’s been his career, it’s been his choices and he has to live with those choices. He may well have got himself sorted out over the last couple of years and wants to move on and get something worthwhile from the time he has left in the game. He’s 28 this year and still has something to prove. Good luck to him and I hope he makes a real positive difference for Oviedo this season.

For the record his last game was a 2-0 defeat at Watford in November 2022, he finally left Reading just over a year later in December 2023. Until Lane’s arrival he was the last player Reading paid a transfer fee for in August 2020.

Smith on the bench today for Wrexham alongside new signing Broadhead and Hardie. Windass and Moore starting. He's arguably fighting for the role of 4th choice striker there now.

Not in the "bring him back" squad yet. Obviously he'd walk into out XI, but WCBAP and he probably has ambitions to fight for his position. But I think it will ultimately prove to be a bad move for him. It's clear he was signed to score the goals in L1 to get them promoted, which he did, and now they don't see the value in him. I expect he'll be available in January or next season.

His current deal keeps him there until the summer of 2028, when he'll be 30.

I’d argue whatever happens it’s already been a good move for him. He’s played a huge part in a highly public promotion and is earning significantly more than he was with us.

If he does move I’d be surprised if he ends up lower than we are at the moment.

Smith came on and scored, last kick of game just about.

Wrexham well beaten at home by an average West Brom side not expected to pull up any trees this season.

How long will the yanks give Parky if the results don't come?

decent cross, decent head, decent goal….found himself space to be unmarked too. Think Parky will appreciate that.
