Only ones to start every league game so far this season are Pereira, Burns, Wing and Savage I believe. Savage is the only one I would call droppable of those.

Shocking stat came up in the Bolton game. We bottom of the league in shots on goal, on target, ex goals, touches in opposition area. Which tells me whoever plays upfront it’s not going to make a lot of difference.

It’s not that shocking tbf.

In defence Burns and Strickland don’t come forward with the ball. In midfield Wing is nowhere near the final third, Savage has been poor and Fraser isn’t creative. Out wide Kyerewaa can’t keep the ball and Doyle/Kelvin/Garcia aren’t wingers. And upfront MOM can’t win a ball, and Kelvin isn’t a striker.

Williams should help the defence keep a better shape to push forward with, which might unlock Wing. Elliot or Doyle might freshen up the midfield. I think Kyerewaa has potential and Lane will give us natural width. MOM might get better with less pressure from an increase in chances we create for him.

We have been poor but we have potential with a bit of tweaking.

Early on we were also choosing to try to recycle possession in the hope we got a great chance over trying to force a chance, or try a weak chance. And our crosses rarely seem aimed at individuals, more areas, even if no one is there.

We are exactly the same as Wycombe in terms of results, points and performance so far so will be interesting match up today.
The only difference is they have 3 league goals to our 2.
Definitely a winnable game if Hunt plays the right players in the right positions. I’m confident we can get something today.

Don’t really understand the starting XI, there’s more “oomph” on the bench :?

Yeah pretty happy with that team, apart from MOM where we got literally no other choice, looks more attacking and creative for sure.
Jacob far more attacking than Dorsett but he is a left back and his defending needs to improve.

Sigh. Very reactive changes. Does feel like he’s just hoping to find the right side

Abrefa being dropped (unless injured) is borderline ridiculous

Not sure how you see that ?
Elliot and Jacob will create and attack more than Fraser and Dorsett and Camara is as good a winger as Garcia.

It’s not ridiculous at all was poor against Bolton especially defending their winger had him on toast and Ahmed is very good player

Ahmed is - but he was also not brillint against Wimbledon. Abrefa been our best player this year imo

Agree, Abrefa's been our best player.

...................Pereira
Ahmed, Burns, Williams, Jacob
.......................Wing
...............Elliott, Savage
Kyerewaa.........................Camara
.................O'Mahoney

I think the front 6 is as good a choice as he can make (assuming not rushing back Lane - which seems sensible. I'm not keen on Jacob, and Ahmed is an odd choice, but he's solid.

Didn’t Selles say he dropped/changed the full-backs frequently because in the modern game it’s quite a high-intensity, so you need to refresh the players.

I’m prob in the minority but I’d not have picked Kyeweraa. Seems harsh on Doyle to give him 65 out of position and drop him. Camara I’m ok with though as he doesn’t offer a lot but does keep shape

He should pick either Ahmed or Abrefa and Dorsett or Jacob and stick with it

Elliott starting is good

Lane back is good

I’m ok with Garcia not starting but he’s scored 2 of our 3 this year. Seems a bit odd when we are soooo short of goals to not play him

No Stickland at all interesting.

I think that was he subbed them on 60/65 minutes all the time for that reason.

When you're losing, I think you need to keep as much consistency as possible, only changing the couple of bits you need to, to find the right combination. Or you're never building good understanding in the side. And one of our major issues is the players have little understanding and fluidity between them.

Have we started the same defence in consecutive matches at all this season? I know injuries played a part, but still.

At least Elliott is starting.

Don't rate Camara, personally. Still think we need another wide option, with Garcia to support.

TBF, one of those goals was going over until it got a massive deflection so it dropped like a stone, and he's also missed an open goal. Plus, for a winger, he does almost nothing to set anyone up. Key passes are non-existant. He's definitely a sub at best.

Kyerewaa is quick, for the press, and the counter. And he actually takes people on. It's all rather out of control, but if someone is going to make something happen out of nowhere, it's him

I don’t think Garcia has exactly forced his way into the 11 but something to be said for being in the right place for the pompey goal and the ‘open goal’ which wasn’t great but not as easy as you suggest (partly due to Kyweraa’s poor ball to Kelvin). And also actually shooting

Actually prob the thing we’ve been lacking most up there

Kyeweraa, not convinced. Looks a good sub to me
