Whore Jackie Fanzone staying open until 7.30pm for the Orient game.

Man United v Chelsea on the big screen and all the eating/drinking places open.

That will be a ghost town if we lose or the weather's rubbish.

I mentioned on the latest survey they sent me that I'd probably stop around for a pint or two after the game if there was a live band or summat on. Alas, the Tadley bus departs straight after the game.

I said in the survey I might stay around, but only if there's a viable bus service to Tilehurst available. TVP would take a dim view of me driving, as I'm not going to hang around without a few more pints.

Felt like the Fanzone could have done with some more lighting yesterday.

I was thinking the same thing as I walked through it last night.

Poster in the gents toilets in the SJM Stand.

"We are working to improve these facilities. Please be patient whilst we strive to improve your comfort break."

Maybe they should consider similar outside the turnstiles:

"We are working to improve this team. Please be patient whilst we strive to improve your matchday enjoyment."

:D

How are they going to improve the comfort break?

Will somebody be volunteering to hold it for you at the urinal while you have a conversation on the phone?
Will somebody be available for wiping purposes?

Not sure what they've done, but the sound quality of the PA system in the East Stand has got worse, not better.

The mind boggles! (pardon any perceived pun).

At the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, they have TVs in the toilets with video and commentary, so you don't miss any of the action whilst you pee! Maybe Rob intends bringing that idea across The Atlantic.

The toilets were improved, the floor and walls have been painted and it looked as if the urinal had seen it's first clean in 25 years.

You wouldn’t miss much at the moment if you want for a pee at Reading

Agreed, in the ED stand it was very muffled....

Maybe, like the hand sanitiser, they just took the speakers away so we can't complain about them because they don't exist anymore

It's bizarre because the safety announcement before the start of the game was clear as a bell in Y21 - clearest it's been. But it all went to ratshyte after that - the worst I've ever experienced at the stadium. I think they should be asking for their money back from the so-called experts they employed to improve it!

I don't think it's the sound system. It seems to be the wireless connection between the microphone and the output which is causing all the distortion or someone needs to turn the input gain down.

I initially thought it was an issue with DJ Megaparty's microphone but then the music was completely muffled too, which presumably wouldn't be relayed wirelessly?

I would've liked to have thought that one of the senior stewards would've had the nous to report back that there was an issue. Failing that, maybe they should have someone in each stand monitoring it until the so-called experts that they have employed finally get it right!

In B18 (S/E corner) yesterday and the PA was completely unintelligible, Megaparty may as well have been speaking Aramaic - couldn’t make out a single word.

Safety implications aside, this is a small thing but does speak to the gap between what the new ownership has promised and what is being delivered (on and off the pitch).

I get the impression that an awful lot of the infrastructure within the stadium has probably not been replaced since it was built.

So, you can put new speakers in and have fancy radio microphones and all that stuff, but if the underlying hardware is outdated and not maintained it won't make it any better.

I imagine it's a costly job to completely re-vamp it, and I already think Couhig has underestimated how much stuff will cost so is probably not even thinking about it.

From Y24 it made no difference if it was DJ Megaparty or someone in the comms box, couldn't hear a thing. A few of us wondered if they'd just turned the East Stand speakers off. As others have said, you'd have no chance with an emergency announcement.

Got to be honest, never really had a problem with the PA system until Landways got involved. Just hope they're not in charge of the forthcoming pitch renovation.
