We've sent a lot of players out on loan this season, which is something we haven't done for years. When players hit 19/20, they really need to be given first team opportunities to keep developing; too many of our young players have stagnated in the U21s.

If this guy coming in allows for Ahmed (at the very least) to go out on loan to get first team football, I'm happy with that, especially if he turns out to be an improvement on our current RB options.

Snowflake Royal Don’t see the point of this. We have Yiadom, Abrefa, Rinomhota and Ahmed. Absolute waste of money in my opinion.

What if he's better than Abrefa and Ahmed and we send those two out on loan ?

He's only on loan, we're not going down, so better to develop our own players than someone else's. I doubt very much he is sugnificantly better. Even if we send Abrefa and Ahmed on loan, we still had Yiadom, Rinomhota, Ritchie and Rushesha.

Abrefa's already got 23 (33) L1 appearances... what's he going to learn in L2?

It might make sense as a longer term perm deal, if we're planning on releasing Yids, Abrefa, Rino and Rushesha in the summer. But it isn't.

The amount of RB capable players we have, we could afford to send two on loan before we signed him

That’s if anyone at a decent (L2/NL) level wants them

Must be a fair chance of us turning into a perm deal in the summer though if things go well

Not as enthusiastic about this one; a loan so not really a building block for the future, but maybe key as a quick fix for this season, which in turn might yield rewards for us in the next. I can see the logic, even if it’s not getting me out of my seat in celebration. Will be interesting to see if the idea is to build a more robust three-man defence when going forward, perhaps freeing our midfield to move up the pitch a bit.

Which means bye bye Academy progression at RB for a few more years.

Yiadom is at the end of his career so will probably be released. Rushesha is miles away from the 1st team so will surely also be released. I thought Abrefa looked encouraging at the start of his career, but very clearly LR doesn't rate him so he will probably be released.

So if we made Nyambe permanent, it may just be him and Ahmed. So Ahmed needs a loan this window to prove he's capable of providing cover next season.

Ahmed looks a great prospect but he’s only 17 still isn’t he? Don’t think we need to rush him out on a loan at that age tbh. Would be happy enough with him playing cup games, u21, and first team cover for next year tbh

He's a big lad for his age which I think led us to believe that he was ready for first team football.
I'm not sure what his best position will turn out to be as he has shown himself to be quick getting forward but his build is more that of a centre-back.

He certainly has ability but IMHO would benefit from more game time so a Div 2 loan feels to be the right move for him at this stage.
