This will be a good signing providing we sign Mensah or Davenport

He is not going to step up two divisions to the Prem, how many players do this successfully in theif first season ?JS28ZoD wrote:Give the guy a chance.Finch Royal wrote:He is not Prem standard

I think the whole world are waiting for Juve to get relegted - you cant underestimate the impact that having four decent italian sides being relegated will have on the transfer market - it will be come a buyers market.Hoop Blah wrote:Just watched his goals from the Brentford World site and, although he isn't the biggest, he looks pretty good in the air (obviously these are headers he's won so it's a bit of biased view).
There was one where he'd obviously brought the ball out from the back and played a one two before winning a free kick on the edge of the box. From that clip at least, he looked ok on the ball as well.
Interesting signing, and although I trust Coppell will be trying to build the squad he wants, I am a little worried at the moment that we seem to be bringing in potential not proven ability. Is this the club not being able to attract more established players or is the whole world transfer market waiting for Juve etc to be relegated?
A long way to go yet I guess.
Made me LOL in the office!Fezza wrote:He ain't Effie he's his brother...
Isn't that Coppell's MO though? He buys players with something to prove rather that those who have been there, done it and bought the t-shirt.Hoop Blah wrote:Just watched his goals from the Brentford World site and, although he isn't the biggest, he looks pretty good in the air (obviously these are headers he's won so it's a bit of biased view).

Didn't Kitson step up two divisions? Wasn't he quite succesful?Finch Royal wrote:He is not going to step up two divisions to the Prem, how many players do this successfully in theif first season ?JS28ZoD wrote:Give the guy a chance.Finch Royal wrote:He is not Prem standard

Unfortunately a bit of plagiarism from Brentford songs, something of a cult hero by all accounts!ayjaydee wrote:Made me LOL in the office!Fezza wrote:He ain't Effie he's his brother...

That's my take on it, still need that top quality centre back.... at the moment we haveOnly one Trevor Morley wrote:I like Hammonds ciomments on the offical site about him - he's basically saying (in slightly coded language) that we're buying him as back up and that we're continue to pursue the main men - ie Mensah and Whitehead
I am sure Chris Makin can cover at Centre Back, too....Alan Titchmarsh wrote:That's my take on it, still need that top quality centre back.... at the moment we haveOnly one Trevor Morley wrote:I like Hammonds ciomments on the offical site about him - he's basically saying (in slightly coded language) that we're buying him as back up and that we're continue to pursue the main men - ie Mensah and Whitehead
Ibrahima Sonko
Ivar Ingimarsson
Aaron Bown
who can be considered as specialist central defenders plus
John Halls
Brynjar Gunnarsson
who can 'do a job there'
plus the one i'm bound to have forgotton of course.....
so we are definitely a minimum of 2 down on specialists
Getting Mensah in is necessary and will be quite an achievement (and means that Ivar will likely become a bench person covering defence and midfield.)
