Brogue, can you stop sitting on the fence and say what you're thinking for a changeBrogue wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 12:00i might be wrong about what? becuase we've signed one player?nailseabiscuitman wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 11:39I'm not saying he's the new messiah either but obviously other clubs see his potential as well as us so happy to see how it goes. I assume you just don't like admitting you might possibly be wrong, although I'm sure if you are right you'll be rowing from the heights!!Brogue wrote: ↑22 Jun 2026 21:28
Yeah I’m reserving judgement and not jumping on the hype train over a league two winger with half a good season under his belt. What do you want me to do fall to my knees in awe that we’ve a signed a player from league two Colchester? Now that’s not me saying I don’t like the signing, I think it’s the sort of player we should be going for, young and up and coming. But I’m certainly not going to start sucking Rob’s dick cos we signed someone from league two Colchester pal.![]()

and we've signed one player, woop de do!. And as i say this isnt a slight on lisbie, by all accouts he's a good up and coming player. We matched sheff wed and huddersfiled offers - two finacial basket cases.
look im not bashing couhig over this signing. you're the one who tagged me, mentioned me specially, saying how does this fit in with my anti couhig stance . well of course we've signed someone! look at the players that have gone (above) and the wages that have been freed up. Signing players are what football clubs do, im not going to start proclaiming couhig is now amazing becuase we signed a kid from league two colcehester. The signing of lisbie hasnt changed my opinion of couhig. Its the bear minium he should be doing.
I agree about the quality of that lot but the problem is what have we got left. It is worrying we have signed only one player so far, we look so thin on the ground and theres still going to be maybe one or two more like Periera and Savage that will be looked at.WestYorksRoyal wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 13:59 I see those players leaving as a positive. Only Doyle was a consistent contributor, and Williams when fit. We've reduced a bloated squad and freed up the wage bill. It's a list of 13 leaving who only need to be replaced by 5 or 6, of which we already have 1.
I kind of agree with you but I don't think it's celebrating a signing more celebrating the fact that, as you say, after 2 years, we're appear to be back to doing what clubs should be doing as a minimum, competing to sign players that should improve the squad rather than feeding on scraps.Brogue wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 12:31 It seems to me that people have forgotten what the basic minimum a football club should do. Dai is long gone. But it’s almost as if the years of shitness should be the norm. It was mentioned that the resigning of Rino is something we should be celebrating too. This is just what normal football clubs should be doing. Extending the contract of a players that’s already here is not something I personally will jump
Up and down for joy about. Yes it’s good that he signed but again, it’s a normal thing for a football club to do. As is signing a player. None of this either proves that couhig is doing well or not. It simply shows football club being normal.
I think the head of A.I asked chat GPT if it was a good idea I guess it said yesmorganb wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 14:29 So, who gets the credit for this signing?
We initially bid for Kyreece in January - was that before we'd invested in AI? Did Brian Carey (or a. n. other) spot him?
It sounds like this move earlier in the year convinced the player to come here rather than the other contenders for his signature
Then a couple of weeks ago we were apparently out of the race for him, probably due to Rob's tight purse-strings
So, what happened next? Did Rob simply have a change of heart or did Leam give him both barrels?
Anyway, Lisbie is here now and good luck to the kid!
Look. I appreciate a lot of you think i'm a miserable old pcunt who does nothing but moan, and is always negative about everything. And fine, that's your opinion, I ain't going to argue with that. You're all entitled to your opinion.tidus_mi2 wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 14:17 Feel like Brogue is a big representation of a very insufferable section of this fanbase, so we've let a lot of deadwood go and signed one player and that's a bad thing?
Any reason to bash the owners I guess.
I'd be equally frustrated by people on the other extreme end but I don't think there are any Couhig et al cheerleaders, not that I've seen anyway.
All I am saying one swallow doesn't a summer make, and given the number of players that have left (and rightly so, I might add, I wouldn't have kept any of the ones that left) we have the budget available to make these signings. So to play this signing as some sort of 'gotcha' at me is kinda weird. And as I said in a previous post. It seems like everyone still has a hangover from Dai. Signing an up-and-coming player from League Two isn't something special, and as I say, yeah, good signing, but it's what normal football clubs do. Most windows, football clubs sign players. It's normal; it's a basic minimum that most fans expect. The renewal of Rino's contract? yeah its normal. These actions don't suddenly mean the owners are doing an amazing job, "oh yeah look Couhig's doing an amazing did you see we signed a player...Wonder how this fits in with Brogues constant anti Couhig / Richardson rants.
First experienced player who has played under LR before renews contract
Second young promising academy lad signs 3 year extension
Third we appear to be matching fee and wages for a player courted by other teams.
Our activity seems to be on a par with most teams in the division, am looking forward to further additions.
i'm not, not celebrating the player, please see my previous postExtended-Phenotype wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 14:57 I think it’s ok to celebrate the arrival of promising players, Brogue. Nobody will mistake you for being gay for Couhig.
Guess what? We will sign a second player. And guess what? That's normal; that's what normal football clubs do. But apparently that means the owner is amazing.Extended-Phenotype wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 15:19 ^ Christ, imagine the meltdown we’ll get if we sign a second player
In fairness, if you went to the one in Lower Earley and used the drive-thru, I'd be quite impressed if you weren't made to sit in the car park for 20 minutes, only to be given the wrong food afterwards.Brogue wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 15:23Guess what? I went to McDonald's the other day, and they served me a burger. McDonald's are so amazing,
I rushed home and said to my wife;
"You'll never guess what, I went in there, and they served me a burger. Christ. Isn't it amazing how they served me a burger? They really deserve praise for serving me that burger".
Wife: " but isnt what they are supposed to do?"
Me "Well, yeah, I guess"

Maccas is kind of like the season as a whole tbh. All excited at the start then by the end of it you feel rubbish and empty and you’d rather not have bothered at all.Brogue wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 15:45traff wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 15:38In fairness, if you went to the one in Lower Earley and used the drive-thru, I'd be quite impressed if you weren't made to sit in the car park for 20 minutes, only to be given the wrong food afterwards.Brogue wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 15:23

Funnily enough, the 20-minute delay, the wrong items, and no ice in the drink is a good metaphor for last summer's transfer window.
Not saying the owners are amazing, bud. Just saying it’s okay for people to be positive about the signing without attracting screeds of panicked reminders about how unremarkable it is.Brogue wrote: ↑23 Jun 2026 15:23Guess what?
