At least 2 CFs. None of our current fit wingers are much good - DK seems to have been turned into a half decent wing back but can’t cross. So a proper winger as well. Lane and Ritchie should be moved on. R Williams decent if he can stay fit

A CAM

Don’t rate Fraser and Savage will prob go. So Rino plus another CM. Probably a right back whether KA signs or not

Ward/POC/Williams ok but depends on DW fitness. Maybe Kanu back otherwise prob another CB

Keeper is fine

And then additional squad players to cover
i can confirm savage has indeed gone...
Where? He can't go anywhere until the window re-opens....highly unlikely the club would accept an offer in principle 3 days after he end of the season.
Deals can be struck and signed off at any time I believe. They just can't be registered, nor the player officially move to a new club until the window is open.

he's told the club he wants to go. He will be gone in the summer. He hasn't been injured for the last few games either, depite the club saying he was...
So I take it we think the “story” here is that Charles got upset because the club rejected a couple of bids (well below Reading’s valuation - bearing in mind the sell on clause) for him from the Ox in January and as a result he’s basically missed out on around 3 months of failing to win a struggle against playing in this division next season. Therefore said player got a bit annoyed and presumably various things started snowballing?

Well hopefully, now a Championship club will come in with a decent acceptable bid for CS over the summer so Leam can have a shiny new atmosphere with which to work in the changing room and everyone can put it all behind them.

This. Once the club finishes its season they can start moves in the transfer market and agree deals accordingly at any time, it’s just that the FA/FL won’t ratify any registrations until after 1st July so nothing is officially official until then. As it’s the close season the delay doesn’t matter as the new contracts would have been signed, subject to FL approval. Any deals aren’t likely to be rejected by the FL if they’re completed in Jun, it’s all just stupid red tape caused by the entire idiot idea of transfer windows in the first place.

Why? Might as well stay on until his contract ends next year before retiring?

Clarke has already gone, he announced it on his own social media channel. Pity, always liked him when he played, but injuries have ruined any career he might have had here. The same for Ryan, unfortunately.

Of that list, I'd say only Spencer, Ahmed and Kanu are worth keeping on - and the first two probably need another loan each in a higher division next season. Kanu could be a decent squad player for next season, has done well at FGR, so I hope to see him get plenty of first team minutes.

I think we've got 3 fairly decent young keepers too, so I expect one will stick around as third choice and the other two can go back out on loan. Maybe rotate that role, if the loans are short-term.

I've seen a lot of the U23s this season and there's not really anyone banging down any first team doors - Patton aside, but we bought him last summer, so not counting him in this. We do have some fairly useful looking players who are around the 18/19 year old bracket, so I hope we get them out on loan at steps 5 or 6 next season and resist any temptation to throw them into the first team too early. Kelvin and Abrefa might have suffered long-term for being thrown in too soon, in spite of how well they did at the time.

There will likely be a separate list.

A couple of years back, the development list was announced a few weeks after the first team. I think the U21s were still playing matches though (which isn't the case this season).

Can see him sticking around as a back up option and doing some coaching badges on the side tbh (if that's not already happening).

Yes, of course, I was replying to the massage that Savage had gone now.

+1. Hound on the money, as per.
Agreed.

We all get on much better without the Brain of Cambridge around.
Harsh on Tabs.

While it’s, what, 5 players, maybe 6, it’s already much less of a rebuild.

Basically we’re replacing the loans. While I’m not against loans in principle, 100% let’s look longer term this summer. Use loans to get players we would otherwise be unable to get.

If Savage, Wing go, we get some money. Thanks, you shone in dark hours, best of luck for the future.

No complaints with that retained list. Rino, if fit and with a preseason behind him should be an asset and Abrefa is a decent young player who needs a run of games. The extension for Dorsett is about right because he provides cover and will get games. However, he needs to do well to get a new contract next summer.

The released players are either not good enough or permacrocks.

If Richardson stays and this lot are the core of the team plus whatever Journeymen Richardson still has the phone numbers for from Wigan and Rotherham than we will be relegated.

The following players remain under contract heading into the new season.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan
Liam Fraser
Daniel Kyerewaa
Matt Ritchie
Charlie Savage
Jack Stevens
Derrick Williams
Randell Williams
Paddy Lane
Jack Marriott
Joel Pereira
Haydon Roberts
Lewis Wing
Paudie O’Connor
Benn Ward

That and a year of virtually free money for him and his agent.

if he comes on and sets up goals like he did for Kelvins hat trick (and others), he’s very welcome to it

My concern - which I have probably shared already, is Richardson. We all know that a toxic changing room will ruin a team, even if it was full of superstars. It's obvious, none of us want to go to work for a boss who doesn't understand us, does things we don't understand, has a philosophy we don't buy into, doesn't appreciate our own skills etc...

Add into that some key individuals like Wing and his frustration/unhappiness will just radiate like a bad smell through the whole team and squad.

So rather than the team being full of excitement, bonded, working hard, feeling unbeatable ready for the first game. We'll have a hangover from this season, with a team that sense the disjointed atmosphere, a sense of "how long will this guy be here for?".
