That's rough, both had become must haves in the starting XI, for all the critique Leam gets with the style of play, he's had sod all luck on injuries to key players.
Awful news for us. Ward has been one of the standouts since he's signed; Randell provides the direct running we're lacking (and versatility); Marriott will get goals.

No more Ward this season, then I look forward to watching Dorsett look ok except for the two to three occasions per match his mental switch flips to off. At least until Roberts is fit.

Which Williams?

Randell - Kyerewaa coming back helps with that at least.
Derrick - shit burgers the defence is oxf*rd if him and Ward are both out.

Assumed it was Randall since he was the one who went off injured last game.

It's funny how it improved for a bit when we had a manager with a background in sports science and fitness.

It's actually on my work To Do list but I'd need a pretty comprehensive set of injury data.

*assume that injuries take one of two forms - fatigue based and impact based (i.e. knocks during a game)
*assume that both follow power laws but different ones - dump all the injury data into a sheet, should get a pair of power laws.
*impact based should be similar for all clubs in a league in a season - is this the case? what defines 'luck' in this situation - look at e.g. expected rate of serious injuries such as ACLs and breaks.
*fatigue based should depend on the individual teams fitness regime.

Some the injuries such as Ward and DK have just been impact injuries, not much you can do about that

Then we signed a couple who hadn’t had a preseason or been playing for 6 months. A 30+ who is in the middle of a 14 month season and not played in England for a while. Another 30+ striker who barely played last year and doesn’t seem to have had more than about 25 starts in a season and we play him 90m every game

It’s not that suprising really. What’s more surprising is our usual injury prone ones - Kelvin, Dorsett seem to have stayed fit

I don’t think Dorsett is inherently injury prone. He had one big injury that he was rushed back from, and spent even more time out.

Doyle not taken off as a precaution on Saturday; seeing a specialist as an old injury has flared up......doesn't sound like he'll be around for a bit.

O! Deep joy! I suppose a long term injury like that will increase the chance of signing him permanently in the summer though. :?

Very frustrating to keep picking up injuries to key players

At least DK and Roberts should be fully fit now

Also, don't forget we have Lane to fall back on.

I think I said this before but it does feel like we are just on a conveyer belt of players coming back from injury while others pick up injuries, typically you'd ease those returning from injury back but I don't think we have that luxury which probably just causes reoccurrences of injuries.

I think that's just the reality of elite football - so many players keep going despite an injury even though I'm sure the best advice would be to rest. But the pressure of the sport means that teams and players often choose the more dangerous option ... I wouldn't be surprised if more than 50% of the England squad will go into the World Cup with some ongoing injury issue we won't even know about - it might just be a sore tendon that flares up after games, etc.

True, and also why players who rarely get injured like Savage and Wing (prob cursed them now) are like gold dust

I recall an interview from a while back where a pro player (can't remember who or when annoyingly) said that he basically played with some kind of pain or soreness in every single game of his career from the age of about 22 onwards. I am sure it's pretty common, especially at a lower level when a few weeks out of the team can have a big knock on effect in terms of contract offers etc..
