Absolutely. He's still in great shape too. If the hunger is still there then he can be an asset for 2 years certainly.Norfolk Royal wrote:Hendrie was a player of genuine talent. If he gets fit and gets his act together he could be one of those players who enjoys an Indian Summer in their career, it does happen, there are plenty of examples.
Got to be worth a punt.

01 Sep 2010 11:47Agreed. Intelligence and awareness make up for a lot of the negatives associated with an ageing body - Sherringham and Campbell being standout examples. And as underwhelming as yesterday's activities were, this a zero risk for us. If the trial is a success, then all well and good. If not, we've lost nothing.roadrunner wrote:Absolutely. Harte and Hendrie give us an attacking threat. If we could just bring in a decent striker as well, there's still some hope for a top six finish imo.

My only reservation is that if he genuinely has something left to offer, why is he still looking for a club?

Jay DeMerrit, played a season in the Prem, played last season for Watford, played in all this year's USA World cup games and is "still looking for a club"
Things happen.
But the above makes me wonder is JDM after too much money (he turned down Sheff Utd)
would have been OK for us (but of course we knew we were getting Kish...)
Getting older usually stops a lot of that stuff happenning.papereyes wrote:Hendrie has/had a bit of a reputation - crashed his car, got in a fight with Steve Bruce, used to be found on the piss often in Birmingham.

If we sign him then it proves that McDermott likes him and thinks he'll bring something to the squad.Royal Lady wrote:I'm sorry but this just takes the p!ss. If we sign him it will prove nothing but JM has lost his marbles.
Yes, and JM has certainly not lost his marbles... unfortunately that's exactly why we'll never see a penny of investment from him again.Row Z Royal wrote:If we sign him then it proves that McDermott likes him and thinks he'll bring something to the squad.Royal Lady wrote:I'm sorry but this just takes the p!ss. If we sign him it proves that McDermott likes him more than the other options he can afford and think's he'll add something to the squad within the financial constraints he's working under.Row Z Royal wrote:If we sign him then it proves that McDermott likes him and thinks he'll bring something to the squad.Royal Lady wrote:I'm sorry but this just takes the p!ss.
