To be fair the ref - Lumley dropped the ball, picked up a bottle, had a bit of a leisurely drink, and didn't even look like taking the goal kick until he got booked. It was pretty textbook time wasting.

100% this, he did the same against Birmingham and got away with it - ball boy threw him the ball, Lumley let it bounce off his legs and back to the boy, ball boy then threw it to his chest, Lumley headed the ball over the hoarding, ball boy threw ball onto the pitch, Lumley dribbled around to the other side of the goal and spend time scraping out his boot (2 minutes wasted).

Given we were happy with a draw against Burnley this behaviour and card were fine, against Brum it was hugely frustrating. He's clearly had instruction to do this though.

Given Burnley were a man down for the last 7 minutes I would have liked us to push more for a winner, particularly when Carroll drew the foul.

I thought that was against Stoke? Not Brum

I thought it was solid really. Not too much difference in terms of the way we played than what Ince had, but you wouldn't expect that against top of the league. What I did expect was a bounce/reaction and we did get that. To a man the team did well collectively and were solid.

Sarr and NGW probably the pick of the players to be honest, not something that will have been said too much for either this season. The young lads didn't look too out of place either (Kelvin, E, Abrefa or Camara primarily), although could just use a bit more quality at times. Still can't fault them though.

Certainly a point gained on our tally and, even though it's not a win, it hopefully should provide a bit of a boost for the lads as well. If we can get another result against Luton, that would also be very good.

If he wasn’t up to playing 90 minutes, he shouldn’t have been started.

Still not getting it how a pro kid gets ‘cramp’ playing on a billiard surface after just 70

I'm pretty sure at least one Burnley player also went down with cramp some time before the end of the game. From what I recall. it's not uncommon to see professionals at the highest levels in the game go down with cramp on occasions in the latter part of games.

I was basing things on my own fat and old Saturday and Sunday league games where my cramp normally kicked-in at the 90 minute stage….still had to see out the game….whilst my team-mates laughed.

Admittedly, I wasn’t playing at his pace, but nor was I subject to a strict training, dietary and professional routine.

I paid to play, professionals don’t obvs

Just hope that all the stars align and it is not an issue in his next start.

Just a bit disappointed that it was even a thing for a young, fit healthy professional footballer

Given Burnley were a man down for the last 7 minutes I would have liked us to push more for a winner, particularly when Carroll drew the foul.

Agreed, but despite a real good effort by the team, I just couldn’t see them scoring, even if the officials had given 45 minutes of added time.

Better to start with a '70 minute (capable) player' so as to get the best from him and sub him when he's done.

Indeed. Given that a well organised team will have let their players know at half time who is coming off when given specific score permutations, if you know you're coming off at 70 you should try to empty your tank to the 70th minute, so that you've made the maximum contribution possible.

Why would you leave something in reserve if you know you're not playing the whole 90?

Not sure Azeez emptying his tank would’ve helped him with cramp? Although might have taken his mind off it…

Despite grabbing a point on Saturday I actually feel more depressed as reality kicks in looking at the table and our inferior goal difference to 3 of the others.

Although nearly all around us lost at the weekend and there are 6 teams vying for the 2 relegation spots (Wigan are doomed) I fear that unless we get at least a point from these next 2 very hard games we will be relegated as the pressure reaches unmanageable levels for the last 2 games.

Strange things happen at this time of year but QPR look to have the hardest run-in and in our favour is that their goal difference is even significantly worse than ours.
Blackpool also have seemingly tricky fixtures but there are points that definitely will be gained by some of our competitors in these upcoming games:-

Rotherham v Cardiff
Cardiff v Huddersfield
Wigan v Rotherham
On the last day QPR are at home to Bristol City

Am slightly less pessimistic having looked at all the fixtures in greater detail so we just get to stay up and QPR get relegated.

As long as we don't take any more thrashings, we're in with a shot even if it comes down to goal difference, if it comes down to goal difference, QPR shouldn't overturn 8 goal difference but overturning 3 goal difference to Cardiff is reasonable and our goal difference is equal to Huddersfield's. Rotherham's is 9 better than ours but they'd have to collapse pretty hard to be in with a shot of relegation on the final day so maybe that could be overturned in that case.

I'm hoping we're out of the relegation zone by the Wigan game, beat them and we then have a stress free final day against Huddersfield, I'd take a point each against Luton and Coventry right now if you offered them to me.

To be honest I see a more enjoyable season next up if we fail than if we succeed, so it's win/win for me.
