Much obliged for the explanation.Lower West wrote: ↑29 Apr 2026 17:46This will be purely the actual cash paid and received in respect of the transfers.Linden Jones' Tash wrote: ↑27 Apr 2026 12:22 not sure if this was covered any where, but the recently published Club Accounts contain a couple of interesting nuggets in terms of 'EVENTS AFTER THE REPORTING DATE"...
i.e. from June 2025 to now...
Three players acquired with fees paid to date of: £761,250
(not sure if that includes amortisation or not)....
three players transferred out with total fees received under the terms to date: £1,800,000
(again not sure if this includes any instalments)...
The accounting implications are another matter all together.
I'd imagine that any Season Ticket Sale Revenue would be deferred to next season anywayLinden Jones' Tash wrote: ↑01 May 2026 10:09 Interesting...
I am also interpreting the OneRoyal scheme as more of a long term play and slightly risky...
Typically you get a season ticket income surge over the summer when there is not other revenue...
Reading FC's financial year runs to 30th June and if the aim was to max out the P&L, you'd imagine ST income would be a big part of that...
So it may mean that this year's financials don't matter....
Hhhmmm....
I'm not familiar with how Revenue Recognition works in football clubs - given you pay a set amount for your ST, whether you attend a game or not, why would this income need to be phased over time rather than accounted for at the point of sale?Tinpot Royal wrote: ↑01 May 2026 13:04I'd imagine that any Season Ticket Sale Revenue would be deferred to next season anywayLinden Jones' Tash wrote: ↑01 May 2026 10:09 Interesting...

Known for pumping a ton of money into the Mets, to challenge the dominance of the Yankees in NYC. Some real star power & big $ on the team.
I'd say the early June renewal is so they have an idea of how many season tickets they will have so they can budget accordingly.Linden Jones' Tash wrote: ↑01 May 2026 15:17I'm not familiar with how Revenue Recognition works in football clubs - given you pay a set amount for your ST, whether you attend a game or not, why would this income need to be phased over time rather than accounted for at the point of sale?Tinpot Royal wrote: ↑01 May 2026 13:04I'd imagine that any Season Ticket Sale Revenue would be deferred to next season anywayLinden Jones' Tash wrote: ↑01 May 2026 10:09 Interesting...

I assumed the early June deadline for discounts was to encourage income before the year end...
Sad as I am, I looked into this and there appears to be an interpretation that allows revenue to be recognised on payment.Tinpot Royal wrote: ↑05 May 2026 09:47I'd say the early June renewal is so they have an idea of how many season tickets they will have so they can budget accordingly.Linden Jones' Tash wrote: ↑01 May 2026 15:17I'm not familiar with how Revenue Recognition works in football clubs - given you pay a set amount for your ST, whether you attend a game or not, why would this income need to be phased over time rather than accounted for at the point of sale?Tinpot Royal wrote: ↑01 May 2026 13:04

Accounting wise any revenue received for future events would be deferred in the accounts to next year

I would like to give a royal thank you to all our fans, players, staff, and sponsors for the past season. I would also like to especially thank Rob for his amazing leadership. I really enjoyed being part of the Royals family. Two things “1) FIREWORKS ARE FUN! & 2) FOOTBALL FOR THE PEOPLE!”
Either that or Leam ball bored the crap out of him too!
"I really enjoyed being part of the Royals family" sounds like a good bye.traff wrote: ↑06 May 2026 16:09 Is Todd off?

Depending on how multi-company ownership is structured, it's quite possible to allow the losses of one company to be offset against the profits of another, reducing the overall tax bill. So sometimes losses on a "hobby" company don't represent overall losses when viewed across the whole group.Lower West wrote: ↑06 May 2026 22:10New York Mets are losing over $200 miilion a year. Championship now following the example of the PL and closing the door to imposters from lower divisions?Sutekh wrote: ↑15 May 2026 14:24 FL clubs set to be voting on changes to the league’s financial rules today.

Basically seems to be giving more leeway in the Championship while screwing down tighter on lower division clubs. Seems weird to me given the recent basket cases have been Championship clubs rather than in the lower divisions. In essence it means Championship clubs will get to spend more on players fees and wages while those stuck down here have to tighten their belts etc.
