i.e. from June 2025 to now...

Three players acquired with fees paid to date of: £761,250

(not sure if that includes amortisation or not)....

three players transferred out with total fees received under the terms to date: £1,800,000

(again not sure if this includes any instalments)...
This will be purely the actual cash paid and received in respect of the transfers.

The accounting implications are another matter all together.
Much obliged for the explanation.

So if there was to be a similar level of player trading as the previous year's, around £8.5M of paid transfer fees would need to be received by 30th June 2026, rather than just topline price, given installments etc...

Interesting...
I am also interpreting the OneRoyal scheme as more of a long term play and slightly risky...

Typically you get a season ticket income surge over the summer when there is not other revenue...

Reading FC's financial year runs to 30th June and if the aim was to max out the P&L, you'd imagine ST income would be a big part of that...

So it may mean that this year's financials don't matter....

Hhhmmm....

I'd imagine that any Season Ticket Sale Revenue would be deferred to next season anyway

I'm not familiar with how Revenue Recognition works in football clubs - given you pay a set amount for your ST, whether you attend a game or not, why would this income need to be phased over time rather than accounted for at the point of sale?

I assumed the early June deadline for discounts was to encourage income before the year end...

If I don't attend then I don't get my loyalty points therefore if I don't attend why should they get my money? For every game I don't attend I want a refund

Known for pumping a ton of money into the Mets, to challenge the dominance of the Yankees in NYC. Some real star power & big $ on the team.

...although the results on the field so far this year don't show that.

I'd say the early June renewal is so they have an idea of how many season tickets they will have so they can budget accordingly.

Accounting wise any revenue received for future events would be deferred in the accounts to next year

Sad as I am, I looked into this and there appears to be an interpretation that allows revenue to be recognised on payment.

Namely, (if the Internet is right)

"Renewal Discounts: Discounts offered to loyal fans compared to new buyers are also considered material rights and are accounted for at the time of renewal."

That sorta explains the early bird discounts, as they enable revenue recognition in that tax year i.e. before 30th June.

ST that don't confer material rights", I.e. a benefit only available at that point in time, would need to be recognised as the games take place.

That's without thinking about cash flow and what happens if the actual inflow of cash moves from a summer bolus to a monthly drip... drip...

Is Todd off?

Maybe there is more in the recent rumours than first thought?
I would like to give a royal thank you to all our fans, players, staff, and sponsors for the past season. I would also like to especially thank Rob for his amazing leadership. I really enjoyed being part of the Royals family. Two things “1) FIREWORKS ARE FUN! & 2) FOOTBALL FOR THE PEOPLE!”

Either that or Leam ball bored the crap out of him too!

Maybe, but just looks more of an end of season sign-off to me.

I can see both, but sounds like more of a goodbye.

Wouldn't make sense to have an end of season sign off when there's still a lot going on: moving into the transfer window; new contracts being signed; the proposed stadium work.

New York Mets are losing over $200 miilion a year. Being wealthy doesn't mean that you are successfull with all your business ventures.

Depending on how multi-company ownership is structured, it's quite possible to allow the losses of one company to be offset against the profits of another, reducing the overall tax bill. So sometimes losses on a "hobby" company don't represent overall losses when viewed across the whole group.

FL clubs set to be voting on changes to the league’s financial rules today.

https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/spor ... ing-rules/

Basically seems to be giving more leeway in the Championship while screwing down tighter on lower division clubs. Seems weird to me given the recent basket cases have been Championship clubs rather than in the lower divisions. In essence it means Championship clubs will get to spend more on players fees and wages while those stuck down here have to tighten their belts etc.

Championship now following the example of the PL and closing the door to imposters from lower divisions?
