Seems like Couhig was supportive of this, no?Wycombe Royal wrote: ↑15 May 2026 15:12 The changes have been approved. L1 clubs can now spend only 50% of revenue on wages (down from 60%), and the manager wages are now also included in that.
Champ clubs relegated can spend 65% in their first season , down from 75%.
Using academy players could now be even more important as it potentially allows you to operate a smaller "senior" squad and have decent back up players.
He would say that. He was his first choice for the job when the takeover was complete. We shall see how much he backs him in the next window. He can’t let him fail, that reflects on him.
I think his actual words were “I don’t care what football fans think”.windermereROYAL wrote: ↑16 May 2026 06:38I find it hard to believe they were the exact words he used.

Make of that what you will. Or are you suggesting Reading supporters aren’t football fans.?
Admittedly we haven’t seen much proper football the last few months![]()
Yeah, after all the hype of the past year I was a bit surprised at the tone and thought "Did he really say that?"Marcel wrote: ↑16 May 2026 08:58I think his actual words were “I don’t care what football fans think”.windermereROYAL wrote: ↑16 May 2026 06:38I find it hard to believe they were the exact words he used.

Thumbs up from me - love his straight talking and everything makes sense. The Royal Forester wrote: ↑16 May 2026 11:06 Full interview with Tim Dellor. Seems as though they have made up!

Totally agree his straight talking is great - don't agree on some things he says (partly of lack of inside knowledge on my part). I reckon an evening dinner with him, with some good plonk, would be a very interesting, insightful and enjoyable timeRoyalwaster wrote: ↑16 May 2026 18:30Thumbs up from me - love his straight talking and everything makes sense. The Royal Forester wrote: ↑16 May 2026 11:06 Full interview with Tim Dellor. Perhaps the loan is necessary as a way to maximise the investment that the owners can put into the team over the summer?Linden Jones' Tash wrote: ↑17 May 2026 07:50He clearly loves the sound of his own voice and likes to talk....The Royal Forester wrote: ↑16 May 2026 11:06 Full interview with Tim Dellor. I'm not sure i'd call it straight talking and it would have been too much to ask Dim to get him to actually be specific and evidence based rather than allow him to dictate the content of his answers..
A couple of top of mind points...
When he talks about all the goals that were just 'lost from the team', he mentions Femi Azeez?... which was a whole season before... while Knibbs was on his watch...
Also, if the owners are so 'strong' on finance, why is a loan being taken out? That's just gonna require interest to be paid and loads more debt somewhere (I know he said not to worry about it but thats just words)...
And why didn't Dim ask him to define a 'sustainable' club - knowing losses are inevitable, what level are tbey aiming for ?...
So, while its nice to hear from the owners, it was pretty much information on their terms rather than 'straight talking'..
Fair enough - but there's a huge difference between straight talking and giving it you warts and all. If my CEO went out to the press and revealed all our internal secrets including some of the financial issues we're facing he'd be quickly out of a job and he'd never get a job again as he'd be deemed hopelessly naive.Linden Jones' Tash wrote: ↑17 May 2026 07:50He clearly loves the sound of his own voice and likes to talk....The Royal Forester wrote: ↑16 May 2026 11:06 Full interview with Tim Dellor. He does also mention Knibbs, Smith and Mbengue. Azeez did play for us in the 24-25 season, do his comment about the season preceding covers just about enough ground. When he talks about all the goals that were just 'lost from the team', he mentions Femi Azeez?... which was a whole season before... while Knibbs was on his watch...
Whilst I understand a lot of your comments, it really isn't that unusual for businesses, with owners 'strong on finance' to take out loans.Linden Jones' Tash wrote: ↑17 May 2026 07:50He clearly loves the sound of his own voice and likes to talk....The Royal Forester wrote: ↑16 May 2026 11:06 Full interview with Tim Dellor. Yea, I wasn't suggesting that anything unusual or underhand was going on, just that the explanation and verbage could have been explored a bit more by Dim...RoyalBlue wrote: ↑17 May 2026 16:52Whilst I understand a lot of your comments, it really isn't that unusual for businesses, with owners 'strong on finance' to take out loans.Linden Jones' Tash wrote: ↑17 May 2026 07:50He clearly loves the sound of his own voice and likes to talk....The Royal Forester wrote: ↑16 May 2026 11:06 Full interview with Tim Dellor.
