Reading Fail To Beat Eight Man Yeovil

Yeovil Town secured a vital point in their bid to avoid relegation to League One with a shock 1-1 draw with Reading at the Madejski Stadium. The result itself, given Reading's amazingly inconsistent season, wasn't so much of a surprise - but Yeovil played with 9 men for the last twenty minutes and ended the game with just 8 men after a third sending off. Despite Yeovil's position in the table and their significant lack of numbers, after an insane second half, Reading failed to find the winner and found themselves drop out of the top six in the Championship table.

The Royals were poor in the first half, unable to string any successful passes together, and found themselves a goal down after twenty minutes. They were marginally improved in the second half but wasted chance after chance. Le Fondre should have equalised before the visitors gifted Reading an equaliser from a defensive mix-up. One of the straight reds then saw Le Fondre step up and fail to score as his spot kick from saved by the Yeovil keeper. Yeovil did the best they could to help Reading with the own goal and three sendings off but Reading dramatically failed to take advantage with misplaced passes and misplaced attempts on goal. Yeovil couldn't believe their luck at escaping with a point as Reading's season continues to look suspiciously mid-table.
