Adam Le Fondre looks set to leave Reading Football Club after reports circulated that the Royals have accepted an offer from Cardiff City. Le Fondre is expected to secure a new three year contract with the Welsh club. With Reading still attempting to secure new owners, and with no money available to spend, the club appear to be keen to cash in while they can on Le Fondre. Le Fondre has a year left to run on his contract with Reading FC and would be expected to provide Reading with a large transfer fee, while also reducing the club wage bill as costs continue to be cut.

Cardiff will be playing Reading in the Championship next season after being relegated from the Premier League in last place at the end of the season. Reading on the other hand look set to struggle next term with a much weakened squad - a situation that might only be resolved if new owners can be found before the new season begins. There are rumoured to be a number of parties involved in takeover discussions, with Indian businessman Mohit Burman leading the way. Burman has the funds to settle some of Reading's outstanding debts although the level of his potential investment is unclear. Any takeover appears to be coming too late to prevent Le Fondre's departure.

Last season's top scorer Le Fondre has been at Reading for three years - scoring 41 goals in league and cup despite only making 59 starts. A lot of Le Fondre's goals came from the bench as he clocked up 51 league substitute appearances in his time with Reading. There no doubt it will be a big loss to see Le Fondre go, with the only plus side being a big profit the club will make on the 300,000 pounds they paid Rotherham in 2011.
