Royston Drenthe has joined Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on-loan in what will be seen as a great bit of business by Reading Football Club as they look to reduce the wage bill. Drenthe has been frozen out of the club's plans since the summer and wasn't given a squad number for the new season, and the club have been looking to off load him since. His initial loan period runs until the start of the new year, but Reading will be hoping to make the loan permanent at the end of the period.
Drenthe signed last summer from Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz and went on to make 24 appearances for the Royals in League and Cup, scoring two league goals. After some promising games in a Reading shirt his last appearance was way back in April 2014. The club made it clear it would be his last appearance for Reading after issues over the summer, which led to him being banned from training with the first team squad. He has failed to make it back into Adkins plans despite the current injury crisis.
