Lucas Joao has been named as the Championship Player of the month for February, after scoring five goals in the month as Reading won twice out of six games. Although his performances, even across a game, can be mixed, Joao has let the stats do the talking after only returning from injury in January. He scored once in January before an impressive goal haul in the following month. The return of Joao gave Reading a big boost as they started to find the net again. Joao was voted man of the match as Reading won 3-2 at Preston on 19 February, with his two goals coming in the opening twenty minutes of the match.
February was probably the club's best month since September. The Royals picked up 4 points under Veljko Paunovic before earning another 3 points on the arrival of temporary manager Paul Ince. However now Ince has settled in the Royals have had back to back defeats and now have a very tough run of games starting with tomorrow's trip to Nottingham Forest. Meite's return from injury has been a slower affair with Ince not giving him the minutes on the pitch the fans would like. With Reading deep in a relegation battle a combination of Meite and Joao up front could be just what we need to pull away from the bottom three.
