Depending on the period that spending is over, that's pretty darn big spending for a team below the championship, and isn't exactly very low for a Champ team. It's already £850k before the undisclosed figures!

I apologise for not being clearer. Some of those players joined a season or more ago. They are just the players from the current squad, that according to their website, that cost the current squad money.

Pardew spent £1 million on just the one player-interestingly doing what he did with us by buying a leading lower-level striker proven and continuing to score goals,i.e for Lambert read Butler.
Back to Ferguson it now looks as though the sacking is more about looking for another job rather than the league position.
I wonder if Brendan has been looking for another job.

Fry has accused Ferguson of already having another job to go to, though the Chairman hastily tried to move on during the press conference!

I think there is a little bit of difference between Saints and most lower league clubs and one signing doesn't change anything.

Difference is that Saints went bust, cleared the debts then a new fella came in and put cash into the club, similar to Leicester.

Leeds, Norwich, Charlton, big clubs in the pond, not as easy to get out of as all that

I'm happy at that. I didn't want him as our next manager.

I just don't get everyone's obsession with Darren Ferguson.

Darren Ferguson Championship record P16 L9 D5 W2 (won 13%)

Fact.

In what way is he the saviour of RFC any more than Brendan was? Oh yeah, his Dad is Alex Ferguson, so he must be good...

Also won two promotions in two seasons, which ain't half bad. Of course, that's not as good as winning the Reserves Premiership title.

I was surprised that BR got sacked, but assumed that someone else was lined up to replace him, and that, bearing in mind that Darren Ferguson was our #1 choice to replace Coppell (the Peterboro Chairman refused him permission to speak to us) adding 2 and 2 together seemed to point to an obvious conclusion.....

..............why that didn't happen will be an interesting story, because I can't imagine that in the 6 months since wanting the guy, we radically changed our minds on him? Which then leads to the other thought - that DF didn't fancy us after seeing our start.

Regardless, some things are fated never to be.

IMO it points to BR giving "The Board" an ultimatum regarding making money available for January.

I know !

But apparantly Thorvaldsson is a rubbish signing because despite plenty of experience he's never played in this division.
