I still back Rodgers, although my faith in him was shaken a bit today by two things.

1) His substitution of Kanu-Robson by Kebe - why oh why?
2) His rant at Dellor.

No disrespect but how many times have you seen us this season? Rodgers doesn't know his best team and seems to pick players from a hat or when they complain about not being in the team i.e. Cisse and Cummings. We may well survive but it will be down to others in a very poor league and not ourselves. The performances are poor and the manager is not experienced enough. R.F.C. is not a place where rookie managers can learn the game anymore, as it was with McGhee and Pardew and especially not under the circumstances the club currently face.

Cisse came in to replace the injured Howard. He was on the bench previously and rodgers said he chose him over Jem for the starting place against wednesday because of his size to counter Wednesdays direct approach

As for Cummings coming back into the side, we lost a fullback to illness on the day of the game. Stretch might have been the alternative, but he is clearly being eased back to fitness after a serious knee injury

why is RFC not the place for rookie managers?

Because we still have a rookie chairman?

And me ofcourse. What are you moaning about? You're three points clear of the bottom three. Rodgers is still finding his feet and Reading will rise up the table in the second half of his first season in charge. Have a little patience; it can't have been as bad as the drivel I watched this afternoon.[/quote]

Well, because your post is perfectly pleasant and reasonable I'm duty bound to reply. Ofcourse, I haven't seen Reading play at all this season, other than in the pub against Leicester City, when I was rather impressed by the way. My views and judgement are formed by what I hear and read, and on instinct; just as they are for the other nine teams I've money riding on 2009-10.
Actually, because I'm not a Reading supporter there's part of me who'd rather like a quick fix at The Mad Stad. If Ian Dowie took over next week there's a very good chance that the points total would rise a lot faster and end in May a lot higher. Were I a Reading supporter, rather than someone whose interest is purely financial, I'd be an even bigger advocate of Rodgers staying. I think, long term, Rodgers will be brilliant for you, but my interest is in the next 25 matches.
To be fair, I can see why you're worried. To turn around my earlier post; you're ONLY three points clear of the bottom three. Posh and Plymouth, the latter despite a change of Manager, will stuggle to avoid the drop. Wednesday, once they sack Laws, will surely begin to pick up; unless they make another dreadful appointment. Laws has had three years and his time is up. Don't be surprised if Ideal's beloved Darren Ferguson turns up at Hillsborough before Christmas.
Judging from afar, which is all I can do, (I've only been to Berkshire once in my life; Windsor Castle in the rain, 1965) I remain confident that Brendan Rodgers will steer you to safety and a bright future. Unfortunately I'm losing a fortune on you, but that's another matter.

Ideal
Jimmy the Tree Even if he wanted to sack him, he knows he can't as we can't afford to pay off his contract and get a new man in.

Bullshit.
We can afford it if we want to. We are not in debt, we are financially viable.

Er... yes we are in debt, and no we are not financially viable.

We are in debt to the owner. And I really don't understand why you think we aren't financially viable.........

If Armstrong was fit for the bench he should be able to start ahead of a left winger. I don't think that it is a coincedence that after weeks of being on the bench and not getting on the pitch Cisse is suddenly recalled. Especially after he complained in the week leading up to the match about not playing.

We have become relatively well established at this level but to stay there you need a manager who has experience in handling a tight budget. Who doesn't waste money on Centre-backs who don't play and others who clearly aren't up to the job (Cummings). A manager who has the experience to take on board criticism and not to just ignore it and lose his cool. The lower leagues are the place for rookies to get experience i.e. the stated examples of McGhee and Pards. We aren't in the lower leagues anymore and that is why I believe that RFC should have gone for experience.

Armstrong was not fit for the bench, hence why he was only brought in because of Ryan's illness.

Royal Rother TB, will you be at the scene of your most enjoyable football experience this season or will your masochistic auto pilot drive you to J11 this afternoon?

Bad TB. Bad TB. I must not waste my time going to J11 again.

How was it? 6-0 I see. And Totton dropped more points too. Starting to look good.

Stretch was fit enough. If he wasn't then we basically had six subs which would put us at a disadvantage.

Todgers the right man? Right man for what? Helping old ladies across the road? Sweeping the leaves from pavements? Licking windows? At least I got my wish and saw that Reading can avoid defeat when having only 9 footballers on the pitch.

What sympathy I may have had for the idiot evaporated with his reaction during the Dellor interview. I don't think the performance today was any better than Tuesday's. Does that mean that I am no longer a supporter of Reading FC?

Not as big a disadvantage as if he was starting!!!!

We didnt have any other better alternatives than a semi fit Stretch for the bench, if he was fit enough i cant see even Rodgers would swap his right back to left back to bring in a right back he dropped to cover a left back whilst he had a perfectly fit one sat on the bench

I back Rodgers. Why are you all calling it a rant? He was just annoyed because he was being asked a stupid question to provoke a reaction, and thats what Dellor got, the tosser. He didnt like Rodgers from the start, and he just wants to be proved right.

Indeed.

Start him on the bench and he's likely to play no more than 60 minutes even in an emergency. You don't start someone in defence who is unlikely to be able to last 90 minutes effectively.

I didn't say he was fully fit I said he was fit enough to play it was you who speculated about the amount of time he could play. Rodgers was asked during the week if Cummings was unhappy about being dropped and hey presto he's in the team. Also, O'Dea has played left back before and would have been an option when Stretch ran out of gas.

It's astonishing that Cisse and Cummings both have an issue about not playing and... Hey Presto. That's magic that is!

Cummings was in because Bertrand had to pull out due to illness. Put your little conspiracy book away.
