3.5 is ridiculous, but youd expect them to ask high as said before.

2 million i9s still high though, i think our offer of 1m is sensible, possible to raise it to 1.5 with add ons/sell ons etc
but i wouldnt go higher than that
can get procven players for 3.5 million

Fridays Legacy,

have you heard anything more on this?

I have it on very good authority that talks have been suspended for now - neither party willing to budge. Its 1m + add-ons versus 3.5m upfront. No middle ground whatsoever could be reached. Reading have more irons in the fire but could still be back in for Sigurdarson. Staying at Lilleström for the time being although few clubs have been asking about the player in the last few days.

No, nothing I'm afraid. If talks have been put on hold, that isn't surprising. Personal opinion only, but I can't see us spending such a vast sum on a relatively unproven player - though he does look very useful it has to be said. Nicky Hammond has made a successful career as a Director of Football for getting a bargain. Even though we might have slightly bigger budgets now we have Anton Zingarevich putting money in (assuming like January he has once again made funds available), the club still say they plan to remain prudent (or tight fisted, if you like) where possible. It's only my opinion of course, but getting much more money out of Reading will be like getting blood from a stone. I would hope we will go back with an improved offer, but it wont be anything like the £3.5m we're hearing Lillestrøm want (and apparently up front).

I am still of the opinion that Reading will get him probably later this summer for around the 2m mark.

I hope so. He looks like he's got a lot going for him. £2m is a small risk and one I hope we take.

No surprise to see both sides staying where they are this early in the summer.

Jesus. They were just relegated?
Seriously though, if we can't stump up £3M, how on earth are we to believe that TSI have any money whatsoever??? #VenkysII

Oh FFS. If we believe he is worth the 3m then we'll pay it. However just because we have investment coming in doesn't mean we're going to start paying over the odds.

Sigurdason has been quoted as saying he will be happy to stay in Norway or go to the Premier League. I can't see him swapping for the Championship. He may as well continue progressing where he is than do that.

He looks good, if we want him then £3m for our new owners surely isn't unexpected.

We are a premier league club with a (soon to be) billionaire owner.

That is a going rate, they will of done their homework on him and should have an idea of where his standard would be pitched in the PL.

Buying any player is a risk, one game, one bad tackle, one year in crutches....

^this

Not sure what it is about "continuing to run the club in the same prudent manner" that some people seem so hard to grasp...

Here we've got some youngster who's playing at a level equivalent to what, bottom end Championship or even League 1, and some are complaining that we're not blowing our transfer record out of the window to sign him.
Seems his current club are assuming that we have bucketloads of cash from the takeover, and are taking the piss as a result (suspect this might happen a lot this year, Hammond will certainly have his work cut out)...

If we're going to spend £3M on a player, let it be a proven Premiership player who will add significantly to what we've got, rather than a gamble on a youngster which may, or may not, pay off.

Doubt we'll get a proven prem player for £3m, unless they've proven themselves to be shit.

as SC said you won't get a PL proven player really for £3m.

Hammond and co will of known what the asking price for him is and if they have got to the bidding stage then he is obviously proven to them.

I am not saying we automatically need to spend large sums of cash but for billionaires who want top ten PL and european football this is still perhaps on the cheap side!

£3M may seem like a lot but if the kids means the difference between staying in the prem another year and not then he is worth every penny.

Not being disrespectful but proven in the Scandinavian League. That's all.

How good would Antonio / HRK / Church etc. look in the Scandinavian league I wonder?

Perhaps proven is the wrong word but he has passed the hammond mcdermott test of being a good enough player.

He has obviously proven himself to be a worthy signing to the club.

Church probably still wouldn't look good in the skandi league

He's passed their test to be a good enough player for £1m. Not £3m.

Just remember our very own Siggy was unproven and he went and did well in the Bundesliga and now the PL!

jason roberts?
im sure there are plenty of proven prem players available for ~ 3M
but i never said anything about prem players. i just said 3 million for some unproven kid who scored a few goals in scandanavia is the kind of gamble only the super rich clubs can afford to lose
