winchester_royal Tinrib [quote="winchester_royalIf he comes here then good luck to him but i think fresh blood would be more exciting and also wanting to prove he can make it. Still Rhodes >>>Doyle for me.
How many times have you seen Rhodes play?
Being more excited about the signing does not = him being a better player. I'm with you, I'd probably rather we signed Rhodes because he's clearly got real potential.
BUT
For now anyone who even tries to claim that a guy who's scored goals at L1 level is better than someone with 5 years premiership experience; won the Wolves' player of the season award in their first season in the top flight, playing a huge part in keeping them up; and with 46 international caps is (IMHO) severely misguided.
So whose the better player between say Shuan Wright Phillips & Alex Oxlade - Chamberlain? The one with years of PL experience or the one whose come up from L1?
i know who I'd chose
Oxlade-Chamberlain has proven himself at premiership level now, rubbish comparison. What's more, Arsenal paid >12m for him at the age of 17, are we really going to compare him with a guy who was let go by Ipswich?
What's more, if you'd have asked most fans who they would rather have had feature in their starting line-up for most games at the start of this season then they would probably have chosen SWP, an England international proven at Premiership level over a guy who'd played one season for Southampton at L1. Even Wenger admits he's been amazed at AOC's progress. He's the exception, not the rule.
Lets put it another way, many Huddersfield fans believe Morrison has been their player of the season. Who would rather start for us in August... Sean Morrison or Michael Dawson?
So you agree then that being a Prem League player doesn't make you a better player than a L1 player with bags of potential?
