Sanguine So far we have average against Arsenal, and very good against Southampton. Not a bad start.

Very good against Southampton? :|

Takes all sorts I suppose.

Yeah, it does. I'm not alone in that opinion.

melonhead play well when he plays
- he's been alright
- but i dont expect him to be as good as our other midfielders. i expect him to be better.
- ok, but personally I don't expect a player to come in and be 'better' instantly. I think they need to time to settle and a decent run, which I don't think he has been afforded, for reasons other than his own personal performance.
if a player is supposed to be better as reflected by his wages, and thinks/acts like hes better- then i demand he be better. damnit
- You don't think it's unfair to expect a player, regardless of quality, to make immediate impact without time to settle?

not mouth off to the press negatively
- when did he do this?
- if not that- then dont be stupid enough to give quotes the press are bound to pick up on as negative
- Players/managers get caught out all the time and I didn't see anything that bad that wasn't exaggerated or 'read in to' by those with an agenda
i can concur with this i guess.was still stupid though
not have a go at other players in every game
- pretty sure that's football
- noticed him doing it in every game. i like players geeing each other up, but he just looks negative and aggressive when he does it. to me.
- Not noticed this personally, but then I haven't been singling him out for attention
well maybe you should
Maybe if you weren't, you wouldn't notice things you believe unique to the individual and spin things to match your preconception.

and produce some moments of quality in games that positively influence results
- he's made a few chances that weren't capitalised upon
- yes, like i said he did in that last game, i was pleased to see it, thats kind of what i want in most games from him though.
- I think he has and probably would do more, given a run in the side
this may be, and i hope so, but how many games in which he achieves bugger all would you keep playing him for until he gets used to his team mates etc?
At the very least, an equal amount to anybody else in the team. And I certainly wouldn't be chastising said player for lacking in impact, if his run was cut short because impatience saw the team revert to 'tried and tested'.

But fair enough. yes. Indeed.quite. Absolutely.

Sanguine What is his longest run of league starts this season?

I remember back in September you were stating that you wouldn't drop Federici even if he made mistakes in three consecutive games. And that's a key position.

I'd say given our lack of any real alternative as a passing midfielder, but given Akpan's potential in this area, a run of 8-10 starts in the side for Guthrie would give us a true indication of what he can contribute to the team.

So far we have average against Arsenal, and very good against Southampton. Not a bad start.

agreed- i shall continue to monitor his contributions closely

Danny thrilled to mix with supporters

Midfielder Danny Guthrie was delighted to interact with supporters at the Stadium Megastore during the signing session on Tuesday afternoon.

Guthrie was joined by Adam Federici, Alex McCarthy, Jem Karacan and Sean Morrison at the store to sign autographs and pose for photos with the young fans - and the 25 year old said it was great to speak to those who come and support the Royals every week.

"It's always nice to go and see the people that come and support us at the weekend," Danny told Reading FC Player. "It's nice to put a smile on their faces and sign things for them - it's a little thing to ask of us.

"You always want to make them feel as comfortable as possible. I've got a little girl and a little boy on the way so I understand where the really young ones are coming from!"

And Guthrie said that the side are determined to get three points on the board on Saturday, and won't give up on the challenge to keep Reading in the Barclays Premier League.

"Personally, I've recently got back into the team so it's an opportunity to finish the season on a high," he added. "We need to get that win and while it's still possible, we never give up."

hes had time, hed have had more if hed gone to sunderland. i look forward to him making a continued positive impact till the end of the season

i never said anything about his failings being unique. preconceptions and bias, and predjudice are all part of football. i h8 alot of players just cos of their hair.(guthrie is on the verge of this)
they dont stop me being realistic and as objective as possible. i think jimmy kebe is a god, but i can still see that he often hoofs the ball into the stand, falls over his own feet, occasionally looks disinterested, and shows a frustrating lack of willingness to go past a man.
i think danny guthrie is a bit of a dick, with a questionable attitude(im just questioning it, im notsaying for sure that he is a wrongun)
but i can still see when he works really hard, makes alot of positive passes, and really influences the team, if not the result.

and produce some moments of quality in games that positively influence results

he continued to play after we changed tactics. just not very well, then he was rightly dropped.
like i said if hed have gone to sunderland, and not criticised the manager, and his team mates in the press, his runs in the team may have extended massively

But fair enough. yes. Indeed.quite. Absolutely.of course.

Sigh. He didn't criticise his team mates or manager in the press though, did he?

The rest - yeah.

Have you selective reading? Now read again what you have highlighted what I said, you then send a link to what Guthrie has said, two completely different things.

Oh by the way, you pick out paragraph 4, did you read paragraph 5?

You can thank me any time.

It is a chore to unravel your poor use of English, but I shall make things simpler for you.

You asked: As for people saying things are better already under Adkins, would you kindly show me, us, where they are saying this?

I sent you the link where Danny Guthrie said just that.

That ok for you? Do you need a diagram?

Guthrie Watch: Threw his hands up in the air in frustration at a move breaking down in which his loose pass put us in trouble and was involved in some other passages of sloppy play.....but generally a good performance, involved in most positive things about Reading on the day. Fair few more of these kind of days owed to us, please.

Noticed he does this a lot whether something is his fault or not. Always quick to rant at his team mates when something doesn't go right. The kind of bloke you would want to punch when you are all collectively trying to keep a positive team spirit yet one bloke sulks and accuses people of things.

Saw Carrico point and shout at someone on Saturday, so I launched a coin at the arrogant sulky bastard.
