Yeah, good point, but he had some good players in the youth set up who were farmed out. If you remember, the ball never got carried or passed much in the middle third. The tactics became so raw I just got fed up and bored I stopped going. Oliver Norwood has been the only star this season, I'm sure his time will be up.

I think you could be right, but for the wrong reason. It wouldn't surprise me if BM went for a Tish / Quinn midfield two. Pretty similar to a Ledge / Karacan or Tabb combination.

Yep, partly my point. Norwood will be on the sub's bench a lot. McDermott will see him as a luxury player. It's a sad day for me when he got reinstalled as Manager. I hope he's seen a few good ball players on his scouting missions for Arsenal and changed his outlook.

On the other hand Norwood has played every game this season and even though he's played pretty well, like the rest of the team he's not been amazing .... so if a different combination works better, maybe this is the end of him.

You clearly don't watch much of Norwood's play then. He is not a ball carrier and is always looking to get the ball moving quickly. If any shouts were to come from the bench it might be for him to hold the ball a bit (but that is unlikely as his value in in distribution accurately and at pace).

He got one under Anton in Guthrie, it just didn't work out. He had one originally in Howard too.

If McDermott reverts to a direct style targeting balls into the channels from deep with two midfield spoilers it will be a waste of the talent within the squad as we've been built away from that for three years.

I think, and hope he'll recognise the strengths in his squad and work to get the best from them.

That includes a front line with plenty of pace and flair who can interchange fluidly and a central midfield capable of playing a passing game. I think the difference we'll see is that passing game turned higher tempo with more emphasis on going for the kill, particularly late on.

McDermott sides never give up and always believe there's a goal in them. Integrate that into an ability to move the ball around with short passes and hopefully we'll get the (successful) style of football we've been after since he left.
