For no particular reason thought of Ryan Gauld (okay, he's a Scotsman) yesterday. He left Dundee United aged 18 for Sporting Lisbon - said at the time he was inspired by the likes of Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo coming through their ranks.

Now 20, he's played 67 times over two seasons, predominantly for their B-team, he's yet to play for the full Scotland side.

I saw Rohan Ricketts recently signed for Abahani Limited Dhaka of the Bangladesh Premier League, the latest club on his travels since leaving Arsenal, and a journey that has seen him play in the leagues of Hungary, India, Germany, Thailand, USA & Hong Kong.

what subject involving quirky foreign football can I look up or even write about? in the past I have written articles (for a sh*tty website) about the FIFI Wild Cup, the Island Games, non FIFA affiliated teams, Easter Island National Team and Tuvalu national football team.

My dream would be to be a travel writer writing a book on some real quirky side of foreign football
