My son wrote to Samuelson some years back, asking if Reading FC would in some way sponsor a charity trip he was going on. He replied with a very encouraging letter and a personal cheque from Mr and Mrs Samuelson. Now obviously he's a wealthy man, but he didn't have to do that.Denver Royal wrote:+1Norfolk Royal wrote:Why, what's he doing in the picture?bagman wrote:Anybody else seen the gross picture of Samuelson larging it on his yacht in the Med. Yeah, but there's also no point pretending the devil isn't evil just because he's doing what devils do.From Despair To Where? wrote:Fat rich man chills out on boat shock.
Not trying to defend Samuelson but he only did what your average hedge fund manager or venture capitalist does. And Vibrac are basically a payday loans company for businesses. If you get in bed with the devil, expect to go to hell. It was Anton with his tales of Bearwood and his father's non existant checkbook that was the real twat.

Do venture capitalists actually have fans? From Despair To Where? wrote:Don't know about rational, long in the tooth, maybe.
I'm not a fan of venture capitalists but the days of football clubs being owned by the philanthropic local guy done good are long gone and his type are more prevalent in the game.
However, Samuelson was not the cause of our problems but was left as the public figurehead of a rotten administration when Anton did his disappearing act back to Russia. As a mouthpiece for the owners, he was a lot more candid and open than Gourlay currently is. I don't particularly like Samuelson but, even with his yacht, he's no Maxwell.
Probably in the businesses they provide start up capital to, yeahNorfolk Royal wrote:Do venture capitalists actually have fans? From Despair To Where? wrote:Don't know about rational, long in the tooth, maybe.
