MATCHWATCH : Cardiff City (a) sponsored double header part 2

by Sutekh » 31 Jan 2020 22:12

When : Tuesday 4th February 2020, 7.45pm
Where : Cardiff City Stadium, Leckwith Road, Cardiff, CF11 8AZ
Capacity : 33,280
Away Stand : One side of the Grange Stand and the corner with the Ninian Stand
What might I see in the area : Wales again

Part 2 of the tie and a midweek home game against Sheffield United awaits the winners. :|

Unlike the first game though there must be a winner on the night with extra time and penalties ready to play a part if the sides still can’t be separated after ninety minutes.

Pretty much expect another load of changes for the game so players like Adam, Olise, Richards, Rinomhota and McCleary should be back in the reckoning to start. Not expecting the new boys, Timbe and Araruna, to be eligible to play any part so MB will be calling on pretty much the same squad as last Saturday though the bright spot maybe that Andy Yiadom could be fit enough to at least make the bench.

But then, as the league season is slipping into mid table obscurity, perhaps the management might decide to go for it.

Referee

Gavin Ward

A pointless match that we don't need.

We are not going to win the trophy so there is nothing for the management to decide to "go for".

I'm sure the money wouldn't go amiss.

If FA Cup prize money was big enough for running a club in the top two divisions. Until then it might pay 3 or 4 players wages for a week.

Meanwhile Miazga is out for the next two months thanks to the previous extra game that we didn't need.

I’m genuinely sorry he’s injured, and it looked horrible from our angle, but when was he last in the starting line-up?

Apparently the Brits flown home from Wuhan were driven away on Horseman coaches.

Something cheery for those going by coach to the replay.

Bowen's men will return to the Cardiff City Stadium next Tuesday for their FA Cup fourth round replay - and the boss suggested he may look to play a stronger team than we saw in the first leg.

You can’t have the new signings in the bench, they aren’t eligible.....

One way to make sure we focus on the league I guess.

McCleary and East then.

Iirc only players eligible for the original game can play in the replay.

Of course technically you can't have any player IN the bench, but I don't think that's what he meant.

Technically you can.
But practically it would be odd.

Nobody can play in next week's FA Cup replays if they were not at the club for the initial fixture.

Yep, hopefully these do not turn out to be the four Horseman coaches of the Apocalypse
