Snowflake Royal Movement and temperement, every time he's played. He's one of the consistently few players who show for the ball, run all game and try to take people on and make things happen.

Good call, however, if he did have the passing and decision making then he probably wouldn't be at Reading he would be in the Championship or higher>

Yeah, that's what I meant. He'd be a star player.

he sounds like a game changer - I look forward to seeing him in the future

He seems to have stopped doing the thing we presumably signed him for, which was to take players on to create space for him and others.

The early cameos you could see what he was all about but we've seen little of it since. I wonder if someone has got onto him about that "dispossessed" stat and it's in his head now.

IIRC, 'dispossessed' relates to losing possession - excluding any attempted dribbles past players. It would be him being tackled; knocked off the ball; or any poor touches without attempting to beat a man or pass the ball.

Well if that is the metric then it seems like a thunderously pointless stat to me. WTF else is he going to be trying to do other than beat a man or pass it? Might just as well call it "miscontrolled" and be done with it ;-)

I still maintain he doesn't attempt to beat a man or try anything remotely creative compared to his first couple of appearances for us.

Mis-controlling and dwelling on the ball would come under that; the latter could well be down to slow decision making or lack of viable options ahead of him.

I'm not arguing with point two.

There's often both 'dispossesed' and 'unsuccessful touch'.

I think dispossesed tends to be more someone else has done something to take the ball off you, tackle, shoulder to shoulder etc, and unsuccessful touch is more when you miscontrol the ball into touch or to the opposition.

For the record our most dispossesed / game and most unsuccessful touches /game are...

Dispossesed
Marriott - 2
Elliott - 1.8
Wing - 1.1
Doyle - 1.1
Kyerewaa - 0.9
Ahmed - 0.8
Ritchie - 0.8

You can see why Ahmed has gone back to the unders, being dispossesed that often as a defender is worrying. The next defender is Jacob at 0.5 in 12th.

Unsuccessful Touches
Ehibhatiomhan - 2.8
Marriott - 2.7
Elliott - 2.3
Ahmed - 2.1
Kyerewaa - 1.8
Lane - 1.7
Doyle - 1.5

Again, Ahmed way up the ranks for a defender. And again Jacob next defender at 1.4 in 9th.

Looks rather like our players really need to work on their first touch and control.

That's pretty piss poor from Elliott tbh, top 3 in both stats.

In terms of comparison to the division, if Marriott and Elliott qualified under the minimum appearance, they'd both be in the running for top 10 worst for the division for Dispossesed. And for Unsuccessful Touch, Kelvin is 17th, so that's actually not too bad for our worst offender.

Just converting these into per 90 minute stats (minimum of 450 minutes played; equivalent of five full matches) - top ten for each:

Dispossessed
  1. Elliott - 2.5
  2. Marriott - 2.3
  3. Doyle - 2.0
  4. O'Mahony - 1.5
  5. Kyerewaa - 1.2
  6. Wing - 1.2
  7. Ehibhatiomhan - 1.0
  8. Ahmed - 1.0
  9. Jacob - 0.6
  10. Lane - 0.6
Unsuccessful touches
  1. Ehibhatiomhan - 4.6
  2. Elliott - 3.3
  3. Marriott - 3.1
  4. Doyle - 2.8
  5. Ahmed - 2.8
  6. O'Mahony - 2.7
  7. Kyerewaa - 2.5
  8. Lane - 2.3
  9. Jacob - 1.8
  10. Wing - 1.5
Both combined
  1. Elliott - 5.8
  2. Ehibhatiomhan - 5.6
  3. Marriott - 5.4
  4. Doyle - 4.8
  5. O'Mahony - 4.2
  6. Ahmed - 3.8
  7. Kyerewaa - 3.7
  8. Wing - 2.7
  9. Jacob - 2.4
  10. Lane - 2.9
Both combined as a percentage of total spells on the ball
  1. Marriott - 19.53%
  2. O'Mahony - 17.05%
  3. Ehibhatiomhan - 15.94%
  4. Elliott - 10.46%
  5. Doyle - 9.69%
  6. Kyerewaa - 8.91%
  7. Lane - 8.78%
  8. Ahmed - 5.57%
  9. Jacob - 3.62%
  10. Wing - 3.29%
Perhaps not that surprising attacking players lose the ball the most, as they'll be under the most defensive pressure.
