Chesham match tonight POSTPONEDRoyals and Racers wrote:Off to Chesham tonight for their 3rd round tie against MK Dons.
I will update tomorrow what i know about the Maidenhead v Reading QF which is still scheduled for next Tuesday 9th. Hopefully the B & B FA will be represented at Chesham and i will be happy to give my opinion on this farce !!
It's insanity really. Would've gone if it was the Wednesday, but obviously can't with it clashing with the first team.Royals and Racers wrote:So Reading have confirmed that the B & B Senior Cup QF tie away at Maidenhead Utd will take place next Tuesday 9th December.
It’s an absolute farce and collectively the Berks and Bucks FA, Maidenhead Utd and Reading must take the blame.
I wrote to the Competition secretary at the B & B last week and forwarded a copy to both clubs. I had a reply from the Maidenhead secretary almost immediately but nothing from the Reading FC Academy.
So we are left with the Reading’s 1st match in this seasons competition being played without 1 Royals supporter present, which means Maidenhead will suffer a loss of maybe up to 100 entrance fees, bar and catering etc, etc.
The Berks and Bucks are saying that all 4 QF’s must be played W/C 8th December. Why Reading and Maidenhead couldn’t play on Wednesday 10th is beyond me.
I also cannot fathom out this ruling from the Berks and Bucks FA for 2 reasons.
1/ If we assume the final is in April there is plenty of time in January, February and March to play a QF and SF match.
2/ The 3rd round with the 7 matches starting on 10th November was only expected to be completed tonight with the Chesham v MK Dons match- which obviously with the permission of the B & B was scheduled for December 2nd.
I hope both clubs next week do the sensible thing and arrange a dodgy postponement so that the match will have to be played in the New Year on a date on which all supporters who want to attend can !!!

Yep, madness. Would have been a major IN! for this. Well done R&R.Clyde1998 wrote:It's insanity really. Sadly local FAs really are the law and the judge in these things so would be amazed if they allowed for a rearrangement just to convenience Clyde and R&R amongst other supporters, it’s just makes too much common sense.Zammo wrote:Yep, madness. Neil used to be a Reading fan too. Used to post on here on the regs it's a shame, but that's where his allegiance lies nowRoyals and Racers wrote:Maidenhead not accepting any responsibility for next week’s date. I have reminded whoever is replying( an official ?) that they are again treating the comp with utter distain !! -and reminded them that they pulled out of the comp at short notice 3 years running. I also pointed out that in the 2nd round this season( their 1st match) they played AFC Aldermaston ( at Thatcham) on WEDNESDAY 15th October.
And more recently half our team were playing a 1st team game at Luton on the same day as the final at Slough and had to jump in cars and drive back to be part of a second game in a day.Sutekh wrote:Sadly local FAs really are the law and the judge in these things so would be amazed if they allowed for a rearrangement just to convenience Clyde and R&R amongst other supporters, it’s just makes too much common sense.Zammo wrote:Yep, madness. Remember the big clash back in 1995 when Reading won the competition against Slough and on the big day all the Reading fans were actually interested in was Barnsley’s game with Sheffield United as the Blades failing to win would guarantee the playoffs. The game was live on Berks and seem to remember a fair amount of celebration during the B&B final as Barnsley set about winning 2-1.
The one liners he used to shout out in Y25 make me misty eyed. #BringBackNeilBrogue wrote:Neil used to be a Reading fan too.
