First experienced player who has played under LR before renews contract
Second young promising academy lad signs 3 year extension
Third we appear to be matching fee and wages for a player courted by other teams.
Our activity seems to be on a par with most teams in the division, am looking forward to further additions.

I guess they key this summer is getting targeted signings and getting them in early. It didn't happen last summer so hopefully we've learned our lessons.

Does raise a question though.

How many father/son combinations have made a first team appearance for us

I'm thinking

Dougie & Neil Webb
Martin and Niall Keown
and now potentially Kevin and Kyreece Lisbie.

Any more?

Paul and Jordan Holsgrove but apparently Jordan never made a first team appearance

How many of our "statement signings" typically work out? Lita?

More positive spin; on paper Lisbie and Kyerewaa are an exciting pair of pacey, skillful wingers.

And even Lita was effectively overshadowed by the signing of Kevin Doyle in the same window.

In terms of impact in the season they arrive, we're probably talking about Jamie Cureton as being the last 'statement signing' which worked out.

I would tentatively add Quinnie to the ‘successful statements’…..still an international at the time of signing.

Oh, and welcome Kyreece 🤞

Kyreece Lisbie - CONFRIMED

by Sutekh » 22 Jun 2026 20:24

Can now be moved to team board as confimred, officially Kyreece is now a Biscuitman for the next 4 years

Shttps://www.gazette-news.co.uk/sport/colchester ... departure/

Beat off Oxford, Huddersfield and Sheff Wed for signature so suggestion is that he can play a bit :?

Nice to see a player who would seem to want to be at Reading.

Another near miss would be Joe Edelston as a manager and son Maurice as a player

Louis Holzman - his father was on the books but never played, his uncle Mark did appear in Mark McGhee's first season. His uncle on his mother's side is Jake Cooper, and his maternal grandfather is Alan Cooper who was also on the books but never played.

You could argue Forster, Butler and Kitson all were. Cureton. Roberts certainly first season.

Great shout on Roberts. The missing piece in that team.

Yeah I’m reserving judgement and not jumping on the hype train over a league two winger with half a good season under his belt. What do you want me to do fall to my knees in awe that we’ve a signed a player from league two Colchester? Now that’s not me saying I don’t like the signing, I think it’s the sort of player we should be going for, young and up and coming. But I’m certainly not going to start sucking Rob’s dick cos we signed someone from league two Colchester pal. :|

Watching his highlights reel on YT, he’s fast, has good feet, an eye for goal, and keeps it simple. I think Marriott might have a bumper season if he stays fit.

Pretty happy with this, i hope it's the start of a more exciting transfer window than last summer. And Richardson changes up his dire tactics and football.

5 pages and I can`t see if he operates off the left or right-unless I missed it-we were excited about Paddy Lane, that didn`t work out too well, if this guy is the real deal and Danny K improves his end product we could be on to something, but if my auntie had balls.............
