I don't understand why Liverpool wouldn't try to secure a fee for Salah - surely a Saudi team would have paid £30 for him this summer?
I'd assumed it was part of the deal he signed to stay in the 1st place - i.e that he could go for nothing.

I know they won the PL last year and Salah played a significant part in that but forgoing £200m+ sales proceeds, then paying huge wages to a player who caused such disruption and so badly undermined the manager in public has to be one of the worst bits of business they've ever done.
He's one of the best players in PL history. Liverpool were never going to 'cash in' - not least since, apparently, they had the funds to buy Ekitike and Wirtz, as well as offer him a new deal. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Except in my case it wasn't hindsight, I said at the time it was absolute madness not to cash in. (If the search facility worked beyond the last week or so I'd show you...)

The assumption is that he would want to go to Saudi-maybe he has made enough money in his career and that is not the driver for him.

We will see in the coming months what happens but he has been good for Liverpool and they have been good for him.

I wonder if USA might be where he goes where there are retirement homes for many top players from European football such as Messi, Busquets, Suarez etc and I read that one of my favourite players Griezmann , who like Mo has been a fabulous player for club and country, is on his way there at the end of this season.

The Liverpool team, particularly under Klopp, was built around Salah but we may see something different with more emphasis on a central striker with wide players being providers and less as potential goalscorers even though Salah has provided many assists as well as being a prolific goalscorer.

There has been a rumour about Olise and I feel that Liverpool will go for an upgrade on Gapko as well as using Ngumoha more and with a fit Wirtz, Ekitike and Isak there should be plenty of goals in the team-they do however need one of the two young centre-backs to come good as well as sorting out the right-back position with Bradley and Frimpong both being injury prone.
Fortunately at last Kerkez is starting to look to be the player he was at Bournemouth.

So get your bets on now. :D

Salah is very philanthropic though, he’s donated stacks to various causes esp. to those back in Egypt. Back in his home village he has funded leukaemia treatment for someone’s son, given grants for students and made donations towards building religious and nursery facilities there.

In addition he and his father have set up the Mohamed Salah Charity Foundation to help local families financially by giving them a monthly allowance.

He’s not the only PL footballer to do such things of course (seem to remember our very own Ulises used to send a good portion of his PL salary back to help his village in Ecuador) but it’s these things that get missed/go unreported when the media want to push the overpaid “stars” narrative.

Bild reporting that Jarrell Quansah's progress as surprised Liverpool, and that the club is set to buy him back from Leverkusen under the terms of his transfer, either at £80m this summer, or £60m in the January window, with an eye on the end of Van Dijk's contract, by which time he will be 37.

Let’s see, under Klopp Quansah was making great progress and looking like a real prospect for both club and country, after Klopp left he suddenly went backwards and subsequently moved away, whereupon he again seems to be a real prospect and making great progress :?

I didn't think Quansah looked to have that much potential under Klopp tbh.. Certainly didn't think he was showing enough to become a regular starter and he needed to get more games somewhere. But surprised they let him go on a permanent deal not just a loan.

Was trying to figure out the future prospects for the current/traditional top teams, and not sure about LFC.

Arsenal: if they enforce the ACTUAL current rules properly next season, I don't think they'd be league leaders
Man City: could likely get hit with a 60-point deduction sometime soon (prolly unlikely but who knows)
Man Utd: 3rd best team not playing in Europe/Cups with a paper-thin squad, but appear to be doing things better.
Villa: PSR issues, which may see their best players sold. If so don't see them competing in the same way next season
Chelsea: proper bin-fire that at some point properly combusts
LFC: Are they Utd around 2013/14, i.e., aging good players and buying (apparently) great talent...Di Maria etc or are they a team in the making if they get the right manager this summer? Hope you keep Slot!

So, from that, it looks like Utd will be the team that saves football by winning number 21.

Slot’s shambLOLes are back in style. No fight, no leadership and no organisation. Pity any fan who has to watch cr@p like that game after game. Yet they could lose 10-0 and loSt would still be safe.

Salah should have gone last summer instead of wanting one last pay day, he`s a shadow of the player he was.

Timekeeping wrong as well. Oliver blew on exactly 90 minutes despite the stoppages for goal celebrations and substitutions.

And he is cr@p at penalties, nearly every one of them is more or less straight down the middle and therefore fairly easy for a keeper not panicked into committing. That should improve next season for them anyway with zsszszszszszszboszlaiszszszszszsz presumably taking over.

Quick off the mark as usual Brobot but Did your team actually enter the competition this season?

By the way, City were outstanding after the first half hour with a couple of really good goals, especially the Harland header, a killer just before half-time.
When Jones starts Liverpool don't often win.

Some fair chances in that first half and for 30 minutes arguably the better team creating better chances but not to be.
Poor old Mo, sad to see.

If you weren't so salty about the 'mentality monsters' getting battered you may have noticed I addressed that

Van Dijk is on his way out too, apparently in his first 7 years at Liverpool he gave away just 4 penalties, a total he’s managed to equal in this season alone

Yeah, football is wicked sport. Makes fools of people. Everything about the contract renewals for Salah and Van Dijk made sense, but both have obviously stepped off a small cliff this season. Van Dijk's fall less so - still an excellent defender, but those mistakes hurt the team, and he could previously be relied on not to make them.

Liverpool will have to come at PSG next week which will give far more space and that will be very dangerous - I could see it ending 6-0 on aggregate.

Is it the anniversary of Hillsborough next week?

If so, I suggest they put a proper shift in.
