Jacob Brown Is Third Summer Signing
Brown is a twenty eight year old forward player who scored one goal in 23 appearances for Luton and Portsmouth last season. His only goal came back in March in a 1-2 home defeat for Portsmouth against Swansea. In both the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons he found the net four times for Luton. His statistics were far better at Stoke City who he joined in December 2020 where he hit thirty goals over three years and his impressive form earned him a call up to the Scotland first team squad, where he earnt eight caps between 2021 and 2023. Brown certainly ticks the boxes of a player with bags of experience. Hopefully he can rediscover his form he had at Stoke with his new club.
Brown's arrival in Reading means the Royals have now completed three new signings, which feels like great progress for the very start of July, after Kyreece Lisbie and Udoka Godwin-Malife who signed in June.

Seems a solid enough signing. Happy enough. Can’t really remember too much on him but was aware of him at Stoke particularly

Averaging around 7 goals a season at various levels, yes a good signing.

Plays primarily as a winger. Opinion from former clubs is mixed but he's spent the bulk of the last 8 seasons at a level higher than League 1 and is on a free. Fairly low risk signing for a 2 year deal, IMO.

Good to be getting our business done early. No excuses for a slow start this year.

He says he’s a striker whereas wiki says he’s a wing back/winger! He’s a 5’10” 28 year old Scottish international with 8 apps to date Scored on his debut for Stoke against Reading in November 2020 and has played in the PL for Luton scoring in a 2-1 win over Pslace, but has spent 2 of the last 3 seasons being relegated. Rammed home a whopping 1 goal in 15 on a 6 month loan at Pompey in the second half of last season (and wasn’t really getting into Luton’s league one side before then). Rather have Father Brown.
