Royals Take Great Form To Sheffield

Reading visit Sheffield Wednesday this weekend taking an excellent run of form with them to Hillsborough. It may be very early days in the league but a run of three straight league wins (Middlesbrough away, Fulham and Millwall at home) has seen Reading jump from 19th to 6th in the Championship. The run started with an away victory in the League Cup that sees Reading travel to Sheffield full of confidence on the back of four straight wins in all competitions.

The team's form speaks for itself, but things appear to be looking up for Reading with rumours that the takeover deal is finally set to officially complete (although we've heard that one before) and good news on players returning from injury. Danny Guthrie and Stephen Kelly could soon be available for selection again after successfully returning to full training, and other key players are starting to make good progress on long running injuries. Adkins has no need to change his line up that is working so successfully in recent weeks and will stick to a near unchanged side at Wednesday. Murray didn't score in midweek but has still proved to be an instant hit and Norwood has changed the way Reading look completely with his superb long passing across the pitch.

Reading should prove to be tough opposition for Sheffield Wednesday who have a point less than Reading and are two places behind the Royals in eighth spot. Wednesday have won and drawn their last two league fixtures, but their last home game saw a 0-1 home defeat against Nottingham Forest. In their four home games this season they have managed just a single win - and if Reading can prevent a second they will have done well. Reading will be hoping there isn't a repeat of last season when they were beaten 2-5 at Hillsborough. We were also beaten in our home fixture - a 0-2 defeat in February 2014.
